Here’s another question and I think I know the answer for those of us over forty, but if you have teenage to grow kids, would you ask them? Do you sleep with a top sheet? For me I would say, ‘Of course! Doesn’t everyone?’ Apparently not.
Mollie doesn’t and now that I think about it she never has. I’d always put one on and she would always kick it to the bottom of the bed. But I saw the question asked on Facebook recently and tons and tons - mostly millennials don’t use one. They just use a light blanket.
And while I’m asking about your bedroom habits. How do you feel about animals sleeping in the bed. I don’t think I would like to share a bed with a dog, regardless of it’s size.
But I’ve slept with a cat on the foot of the bed for more than forty years. Of course the one we have now can get a little pushy. As I’m getting ready for bed she claims my spot. I come in and move her to the foot, but I sure get a dirty look.
These are my bedroom questions. If you have more interesting things to report, please feel free.
Hi PK,I wondered what you were going to ask when I read the title lol.
ReplyDeleteI am always a cold fish so prefer the bed and bedroom to be warm, including using an electric blanket in the winter. I have always used a top sheet, but I know friends who just have a bottom sheet and duvet. I just couldn't lol. As for pets, in a former life I had 3 Siberian husky dogs who would climb up on the bed when we first went to bed, but it was quick cuddles then off. No way we were fighting 3 dogs for space lol. Cats yes, though they stayed on top of the bed rather than under the covers.
Hugs
Roz
I'd like the bedroom to stay about 60 degrees (15.5 C). That way I can cuddle right up to Nick all night. But since it's hot now, a light sheet is nice to have. I have always kept the cats on top of the covers.
Deletefunny you should mention hot in the bedroom.. both Sir Steve and I are grumpy this morning cause it was SO hot in the bedroom last night neither of us slept well :( we do not have ac (I personally HATE it) but we do have a fan.... and it was going last night... mind you the weather man didn't forecast HOT last night so it wasn't on high.... the weather man lied :(
ReplyDeleteWe it can stays around 90 degrees (32 C) and 95% humidity A/C is a must so I'm used to it. I didn't know weather men were allowed to lie! Shame on him.
DeleteHi PK. First off, like you I have fans all over the room and outside of it, pointing in! I go from HOT to cold. Only at ‘times’ it is so uncomfortable. Sometimes it’s a constant back and forth. Other times it’s freezing when I get in bed and then in middle of night I jog back and forth.
ReplyDeleteWe do have the dogs in our bed but they are tiny. I must say that in summer I’m more particular about them being on bottom of the bed because of ticks…..’shiver.’ In the winter they squish up to our body warmth.
We always use a top sheet….. not sure about my kids……
I'm too hot nearly all the time and menopause was over a long time ago so it's not that. Ask your kids sometimes and let me know. I've gotten curious now.
DeleteUK is having warm weather lately and so it's hot in our bedroom (no A/C for us) We use a light duvet for summer but still warm. I have to have something over me, can't sleep with no cover.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't let a animal sleep on our bed.
Love,
Ronnie

I like some cover too even when I'm hot - thus the fans. We looked up one place for a possible honeymoon so very long ago and you could get a cat to sleep with you - but you had to pay extra.
DeleteInteresting topic! I sleep in undies and a very loose tank top. I don't mind having the ceiling fan on, or if there's a stand fan then it's got to be stationary on me and not rotating cos i hate that Wind / no wind / wind / no wind thing.
ReplyDeleteI HAVE to have at least half of me covered cos my shirt tends to ride up so the blankie covers my belly.
I don't like sleeping with the AC cos it's too cold for just a sheet but a comforter / duvet / quilt is too hot.
I'm usually warm when I first get into bed (30 deg C here on average), but I cool off very quickly except on v hot nights. So usually the ac is on for about an hour before I go to bed. Then i shut it off and have the fan on with the sleep timer set to 3 hours. By 4 am I'm sleeping with no fan (and no AC).
I'm not normal, I'm told. But I do prefer it when the air is very still.
My blankie is very light in December / January and the rest of the year I use a flat sheet. (I suppose that would be the same as a top sheet...)
I sleep nude with A/C and two fans, but a sheet and a light blanket. In the winter I get in bed freezing and curl up to Nick, but within 30 seconds I'm burning up and rolling away.
Deleteoh thank goodness you asked! I thought it was just me! A/C, and fans.
ReplyDeleteYes, a top sheet is important. Ironically, my teenager does sleep with a top sheet, but I think she is the only one I know that does.
The chill pillows work? I was looking at them and wondered.

I've used two kinds of chill pillows. One I slipped the 'chill pad' into the pillow case on top of the pillow - it worked almost too well. But it was great in the summer. Now it's just built into the pillow and it is nice but not quite as good as the pad. I asked LJ and he and Collin do sleep with a top sheet.
DeleteWe have a fan on in the bedroom to keep it cool. We have A/C, but it's still hot on the upper level where the bedrooms are.
ReplyDeleteWe have top and bottom sheets, and a light blanket.
Our dogs (short-haired toy breed) always slept under the covers with us, one on each side of me. That way, if they needed to go out, we would know immediately and get up with them. Now that we are temporarily dogless, Ron and I can snuggle for the first time in ten years.
Hugs,
Hermione
Having the cat on the foot of the bed does let us cuddle and I like that, but sometimes she does creep and make it difficult. So I understand the problem.
DeleteYour choice of the animal you sleep with is a good one, much better than the bird! I've heard a lot of people who need the white noise - I just want the cool. Glad you have hairy legs available for warming your feet.
