I found one of Windy’s recent posts very interesting. Especially where she tells us that there was some doofus telling her, “Wait twenty-four house before you answer comments,’ then, ‘You’re waiting too long to reply to your comments’ like there are some frigging rules about.
I always like to answer my comments. It seems like most of us do. But what is the best timing? In the old days most of us posted in the mornings and answered comments in the evening, because a lot of us worked outside the home during the day and had to come home and cook supper, bully everyone into doing their homework and see that everyone got to bed… THEN maybe we’d have time to answer our comments.
Now I’m home during the day, I can answer them as they come in if I want, but sometimes that stops comments. I know it used to, people would comment but when they saw you’d begun answering they felt like that was the cut off point. I had a friend say just the other day in an email, ‘I went by the blog, but you’d already answered comments…’ like that stopped her from commenting.
If you’re every feeling that way – please don’t! Comment ANYTIME, comment more than once, comment a few days later. I just enjoy hearing from anyone and everyone. If you’re several day later than when the post first came up, drop me an email to let me know it’s there and I’ll pop back and answer it. Believe me there is no cut off time.
That’s one of the best things about blogging – NO RULES! We can post about anything from canings, spankings, bondage, figging, knife play, discipline in the woods… all the way to trying to explain about nearly knocking yourself out while trying to plant flowers. And we can answer comments (or not) whenever we feel like it. It’s great to have a place in life with no rules!
Here, here PK, doofus is exactly what I thought reading Windy's post. There are, and should not be, any rules to blogging. After all, our blogs are our space to share what we want, when we want.
ReplyDeleteYou are right though, that answering comments quickly can stop others from commenting. I used to wonder too if I should comment if I saw the blogger had started answering comments, but quickly learned the answer is yes!
Hugs
Roz
It sure it! I hope other people realize this now.
Deletethis is really interesting....... I never noticed that there was a correlation between my answering comments and how many comments I get.......... good lord!! are there bloody rules for everything??!!! First I caught sh*t for not answering comments - now I have to time the answers?? this is getting out of hand.. I vote for NO RULES!!! (grinning)
ReplyDeleteI like the no rules idea for sure - at least in blogland.
DeleteGrin....the best thing in blog land is the support that is given!
ReplyDeleteI love reading here too PK. I know whatever I comment, you will not judge me. Thanks
Boo
Judge you? Shoot, I think of all the people who comment here as way smarter than I am. I just like all of us visiting together.
DeleteIt seems to me that no matter what one might do your not going to keep everyone happy, I am glad you jotted down that you don't mind comments late coming in, it is something I'm wary of doing I don't want to feel like I'm yabbering on about something that the blog writer has moved on from.
ReplyDeleteYou're right and I'm so happy that I don't try to keep everyone happy anymore. Please feel free to comment on any post at any time. I always like to discuss anything I write.
DeleteHope you didn't wake Storm, with your laughing or your cold feet. Hopefully this will help help others know that they can jump in any time to talk to anybody.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I wish we had met earlier too. We might have both been better off.
LOL, well, if anyone wants to comment on my blog at any time, i'm game. And I'll write a reply to every comment. (Unless I missed it, or forgot, but never because I just didn't want to reply. In fact I might have been scrolling thru recently and only just replied to a comment that was left more than a month ago. OOps... )
ReplyDeleteThat happens to me occasionally, but I do try. I just like having folks to talk to .
DeleteHow crazy! As a reader and not a blogger in this community, I find it just - I don't know - rude, obnoxious, and yes doofus-like behavior to assume there are rules to blogging. I am not always able to hop on and read in a timely manner but it has literally never occurred to me that I should or should not leave a comment based on timing. I also do not feel somehow insulted if the blogger does not respond. I assume they have other things going on in their life.
ReplyDeleteHow much nicer would our days be if we all could cut each other a bit of slack and not assume the worst of one another. It is so exhausting to constantly be judged.
In any case, a huge thank you for putting in the effort of blogging and sharing. Happy weekend!
