Do you all hear those cathedral bell and the distant voices
of angels singing? That’s what I hear as the school year ends. I’ll be going in
tomorrow long enough for a luncheon and to straightening a few things and then
I’m free as a bird. I’m not sure anyone but a teacher or former teacher can
understand the joy I’m feeling.
Although I know it will go quickly, at this moment summer is
rolled out in front of me like a soft, green carpet of grass and sunshine. And
I know a wonderful way to begin this summer, something we should all be doing
more, getting together with some fellow bloggers to enjoy a little sun and
sand!
Last year Sunny and I flew to Las Vegas to meet for the
first time. We liked the idea so well we decided to try it again and we were
able to persuade Katie to join us. It will evolve an airport visit for each of
us, then a little drive to paradise.
Our plans include talking, laying by the pool, talking,
walking along the beach, talking, eating out, talking, taking a few pictures,
talking and maybe a little drinking. Are you getting the flavor of this visit? And this is about how we'll all look.
My only worry is the expectations of blogland – last year I
could tell you wanted some wild tales of adventure from Sunny and me and I felt
like we disappointed. As much fun as I think it would be to be Cassie or Sue or
Annie – this is real life and not nearly as story
worthy as good fiction. So where we may not sound as exciting when we write
of sitting in the hot tub or napping by the pool, we are all extremely excited
to be getting together.
Now if I felt there would be any consequences from wild
behavior I suppose I’d at least consider it, but unfortunately for Sunny and me
we could get tattoos, run up enormous bar bills, flirt outrageously with
gorgeous men (assuming we could get any to look our way) or fly to another
country for a day of shopping with out telling our guys and I’m afraid Nick and
Ray might no even lift an eyebrow. Now Rob… well, if Katie gets herself in
trouble she might have a hard time sitting. And yes you are picking up on just
a little envy there.
Hopefully you’ll all wish us well and come back to hear the
stories of what we’ve really done (or perhaps the cover story we’ll come up
with). Maybe next year our ‘girl’s trip’ will have even more of us visiting.
What fun! This sounds great! Take it from someone that works year round and wasn't able to get any time off this summer (Yes I'm a little jealous). Have a great time on your trip. I'm anxious to hear about it. Amyee
ReplyDeleteAmyee, I hope it works out where you can at least get a little time off. Everyone needs some down time. We'll tell you all about it.
DeleteThis sounds fantastic PK, I admit I'm just a tad envious. Have a wonderful time together...whatever you get up to :)

I really wish there was a way for us all to get together. That would really be cool.
DeleteYour plans sound just great, have a wonderful time.
ReplyDeleteRosie x
Rosie,
DeleteI really think it's going to be a lot of fun.
Trouble or not, it sounds like a great plan!! Hope you all have a wonderful time. I have exams for another couple of weeks and am bored stiff. I read spanking stories in my head now, lol It must be the most boring job I have ever done!!
ReplyDeletelove Jan,xx
I can only imagine how bored you have to be. Of course I do some of my best story writing when I can't do anything else. Try writing in your head sometime instead of reading.
DeleteDouble good news...I so remember that joy of finishing up another school year...the start of summer is not quite the same without it....but that is fine with me. Enjoy your girls' beach vacation.....and I expect a full report.
ReplyDeletehugs abby
It is a joy to be finished. I don't know what next year will feel like, but I think it's going to be pretty good. And we'll give a full report.
DeletePK,
ReplyDeleteWhat fun for the three of you! Just do not get into too much trouble.
Meredith
I think we'll be able to rein one another in!
DeleteI know you will all have a wonderful time. Have fun.
ReplyDeleteLove,

Sure do wish you could come too.
DeleteI wish...... Hey I may whisper in your ears via phone about some trouble you could get into!!!
ReplyDeleteWish.... Wish....
Have so much fun!!!
I'm sure we'll be taking suggestions.
DeleteI can't wait.
ReplyDeleteMe either.
DeleteI am SO excited, PK! :) Tomorrow I go back to Mom, and I have something very happy to look forward to. I promise to behave! LOL! OK I will try...
ReplyDeleteHope that you are celebrating the end of the school year. I will look forward to doing that with you. Many hugs,
<3 Katie
Real life behaving hasn't ever been a problem for me. A little over eating is as bad as it gets. We may have to come up with something between the three of us.
DeleteSounds like fun. Hope you all have a great vacation and don't get into too much trouble. LOL! Can't wait to read all your blogs on your return.
ReplyDeleteLindy
Us? Trouble? We're way too sweet and well behaved for any trouble.
DeleteThere is nothing like that feeling on the last day of school. I used to put on Alice Cooper's "School's Out For Summer" really, really loud! Hope the three of you have a wonderful time.
ReplyDeleteElla
You've got the feeling for sure! And this time next year it's really going to be 'School's out forever!'
DeleteHave a wonderful time. And please share every little detail so I feel like I was there, too! :-) Hugs!
ReplyDeleteSo very excited for all of you...have an awesome visit and make sure you each drink one for me! :D
