I have been a wife and mother for over twenty years. Now I am becoming my husband's lover, too.
We owe it all to my fellow bloggers who gave me the courage to come out to my husband as a spanko.
I do feel like this is a New Beginning for us.

Great Thanksgiving!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Ours was great. We headed to Nick’s Dad’s and nearly the whole family was there. Not LJ, of course, he never makes it home for Thanksgiving. He and Collin will be here early in January for Christmas. But Mollie was here with the grand-pets for the holiday and Mollie joined us when we went to see The Good Liar. Excellent movie!

We’re finally expecting to see some progress on the living room this next week. Crown molding, new doors in the hallway, possibly new baseboards – but we’re thinking about maybe getting hardwoods to replace the worn carpet, so the baseboards might have to wait. I’m luke-warm about the hardwood. I think it would be beautiful, but my preference is dark wood and I know that shows every speck of dust and pet hair. I’m not that great a house keeper, sooo… I don’t know.

The Christmas tree is up and lit, but not yet decorated. The cat enjoys sitting under it. And it’s in my writing room so I get to enjoy it the most.

I’m not much of a black Friday shopper. Two reasons – I don’t like shopping and I don’t like crowds. That's plenty to keep me at home. But Nick decided we should go shopping for something. So I find myself, at the grand old age of sixty-two, to be the proud owner of my first-ever brand new car. It seems to have all the bells and whistles. Now I need to find out how to use them all. But I’m happy and excited to have it. Of course, I’m one that loves staying home. But it looks great on the carport!

  3. Glad you had a good Thanksgiving - I love that ours is in October - gives me time to recuperate from one major entertaining/eating holiday before the next one.. I don't know how well I'd do with it being in November (grinning)

New car eh?? on black friday?? did you get a good deal?! never heard of car deals on Black Friday ........ I got a new car - ummmm last spring? - and it made me nervous -- getting used to all the bells and whistles and worrying about the first ding.... Enjoy admiring it in the carport - won't get any dings in there !!!

    1. I do wish we had a little more time between eating-fests! Actually they do have black-Friday sales. They want to get rid of the 1019 to get it off their inventory before the end of the year.

  4. Hey PK,

Glad turkey day was enjoyable (so often it isn't). It sounds like life is moving along nicely for you. I'm with you on hardwood floors, I like dark wood. However, in the great white north, ummm....it's cold on your feet. Sigh.

New car is fun. Good luck with all the bells and whistles...still trying to figure out the ones on my new-to-me car that has some newer features.

    1. Both of our families have always gotten along well. We are so lucky.
I think the floors will be cold in the winter too. Not as bad and the great white north - but still cold.

  5. Everything sounds wonderful at your place. Dark wood does show everything, it's beautiful but hard work. Our tree is up, glowing and decorated too. Waiting for the last of the deliveries so I can get the packages off to the kids. Congrats on your new car.

    1. We'll probably go with a medium color. Hope your packages come soon. If you come see me, I'll take you for a ride.

  6. Glad the renovations are coming along, though it’s a tough call whether to plump for carpet or wood. Carpet is easier to work with but wooden flooring is longer lasting.
Hope you get on well with the new car. All those bells and whistles are beyond me!

    1. I think we've decided to go with wood. I'm glad we got the car now. If I waited until I get much older I'd never be able to figure it all out.

  8. Glad to hear you had a nice Thanksgiving! A new car? What fun fun fun! Congrats!

FYI we just switched to hardwood floors and they are super easy - I just sweep! Our carpets were honestly, well, gross. Our gal also has allergies so this hardwood seemed to be a good plan. We got them pretreated (I think that's what it's called) so we didn't need to leave the house for days). We sound alike on the housekeeping thing, by the way.

    1. That is a good thought. Sweeping is one of the few household chores I actually like - it seems so productive. I think we're going for it. And I hope it can be before Christmas.
