I have been a wife and mother for over twenty years. Now I am becoming my husband's lover, too.
We owe it all to my fellow bloggers who gave me the courage to come out to my husband as a spanko.
I do feel like this is a New Beginning for us.

Still Trying

I’m not going to turn this into a diet/exercise blog but I’ll still come here and update my progress every once and a while. I have continued the trips to the gym and I made a compromise on the times I go. I found a class I like – chair yoga (senior yoga.) Do I
sound old or what? But I do like it and yoga was one of the things my doctor recommended. I attended the first class and enjoyed feeling stretched out, but nothing was particularly hard. Then I got up the next morning and everything was sore. I think it was doing more than I’d realized.

When to go to the gym was an annoyance. The yoga class is at 8:30 so I can get there without having to get up at the crack of dawn and it still gets me home in time to feel like I have my morning to write. That’s two days a week and then I go in the afternoons three days a week to work out with the elliptical machine and some moderate weights.

I’ve had minor glitches in my WW program. I missed the weigh in last week while puppy sitting.  This was my choice, Mollie said she’d be fine. But I didn’t like to think of that tiny puppy in a crate all day so Mollie’s home until 7 am, I would go about 11 and let her play for about an hour and then Mollie’s back home around 3:30. I’m only doing this one more week then school’s out for the summer. But I still made it to the gym each day.

The real WW issues came up with the southern answer to the death of a loved one. Food. We were able to have my uncle’s
funeral this past weekend. We had family in from all over the country – I told you we are a close family. Several cousins came all the way from the west coast. We gathered one evening at my Aunts condo – a home where four or five could visit comfortably, but there were twenty-three of us there that evening and there was enough food to have fed each person there for several days.

I’m sure I ate too much, but I was aware of each thing I chose and later recorded it on my WW app. Let’s just say I did way better than I would have in the past with wiser choices and knowing when to stop. I’ll be weighing in later today and while I don’t think I made my ten pound goal before I head off on my vacation I’m still proud of myself for continuing to try. If I keep working maybe some of the cousins I saw will be able to notice a difference when the reunion comes around in August.

On another note, I was asked to join the June Instagram challenge. I can’t tell you how much I don’t know about Instagram or how it works, but I said yes anyway and Mollie has helped me. The goal is to post at least 15 time in June. If you are on Instagram, please come by!

  2. Hi PK, good on you! Well done, this is awesome. Glad you found a class you enjoy and that you found a gym routine that suits you better.

I'm so glad it sounds as though you had a lovely family gathering for your uncle.

  3. It sounds like you are doing great! I understand the food thing. When my fam gets together we always have enough food to feed three times the people present. Always tempting!
Your exercise regime sounds like it’s working perfectly!

    1. It's so hard when it's just there! I don't keep too many snacks at the house.

  4. PK,
I think you are doing GREAT! More exercise, better food choices, comforting others as you visit with your lovely big family... You certainly inspire me to want to do more with my current lack of exercise, I need to remember that I don't have to do all of it perfectly or according to what another's healthier routine looks like.... I just need to get started and then do what I can .... right? LOL Keep up on the great work you are doing and I really hope you have a very lovely vacation as you are so kind and you work so hard, I just think you deserve a nice break. Hugs. Windy

    1. I am happy that so far I'm giving it a good try. It's not like I had a lot of choice - exercise is good for everything I have so I have to keep it up. I think my trip is going to be a lot of fun!

  5. Terrific! Nearly ten pounds is amazing! Be proud. I'm so not there for the exercise. I planted some flowers the other day--in pots--not the garden. And I still hurt in the back of my thighs. And my husband did most of the lifting! Keep telling us about your progress. Maybe it will shame me into doing something. Glad to hear you did so well with the feast with the family. That's hard to do. Have a great time on your trip.❤️😎 Rosie Dee

    1. I know I'll walk lots on vacation, but probably not as much as I'll eat.

  7. Vacation plays havoc with diets, but now that you now about better choices you will be fine. Your exercise schedule puts me to shame - remember that muscle weighs more than fat so don't get discouraged by the numbers on the scale.
    You go girl.
I did the instagram challenge two years ago. Don't even remember how to access it anymore - Use it or lose it is so very true.

    1. I don't think I have to worry about muscle mass yet. I have plenty of fat I need to burn off. I'd like to learn a little more about instagram.

  8. PK, No gain without pain. Good for you. You should be really proud of yourself. The sitting yoga class sounds interesting. Would like to hear about that and what's involved.

    1. It's for folks who just can't do all the movements on the floor. Mostly stretching, but I really like it.

  11. Well done PK, you are acing it. Oh I've wanted to try chair yoga, can't find any classes around my area though. sounds like it would be fun at the same time as exercising.
I'm sure even if you haven't reached your goal for your holiday you'll still look good. Have fun!
