Welcome to Saturday Spankings! In our last snippet from Secrets on the River, Annie told her friends of her rape and having later delivered the her baby all on her own. Cassie and Sue listened in horror to all Annie had been through, but there was more story to tell.
“I wrapped her in a towel and put the bloody towels and afterbirth in a grocery bag. I had to get rid of them. I had to get rid of everything. I found one of my grandmother’s big old purses upstairs and I put the baby in there. She didn’t make a sound. I was in so much pain I don’t even know how I got down the steps and out of the house. I knew I couldn’t walk far, but there was a church just down the block and I made it that far. Churches were always open back in those days, remember, and I went in and took the baby to the front of the church and laid her on the first pew. She was so still and quiet. I think she was already dead. And then I left.”
“You left? You didn’t, I… I mean you didn’t kill the baby?” Sue exclaimed, releasing the breath she was holding.
“Yes!” Annie wailed. “I killed her. I mean, not with my bare hands, but she died in my care… or lack of care. It was my fault. The police have made the connection now. A policeman called the house looking for me! I’m going to jail. I’ll be taken from Andy. Maybe I’d be better off dead. I don’t know what’s worse, going to jail or having Andy and Lily know what I did!” She was sobbing now and seemed completely drained.
“Annie!” Cassie cried. “You don’t even know for sure that the baby died. Was it in the paper or on the news or anything?”
“I know she died. I used to have a daydream that she was found and adopted by a good family. But she was just too little to live. And that old stone church was cold even in the summer. I know she was found too late to save her.
“And why else would the police be looking for me now? They wouldn’t still be looking if the baby had lived. Lily answered what she thought was a wrong number a few months ago. They were asking for me by my birth name. I’d never been so frightened. I lied and said I’d never heard the name. I’m guessing they weren’t calling to give me a ‘mother of the year award’!” Annie said bitterly.
“I’m afraid she wasn’t found for several days. I went back to my grandmother’s house and slept for nearly twenty-four hours. When I woke, I gathered my things, snuck back out into the dark and took a bus home. All I told Mother about my summer was that Grandmother needed someone to live-in and care for her.
Dennis was still there when I got back. I didn’t wait for him to sneak into my room. I went to his room my first night back…with a butcher knife.”
Cassie closed her eyes again. Dear Lord, here’s the murder!
“He woke when he felt that blade against his private parts. Suddenly I was in control and he was the scared one. He was blubbering and begging me not to hurt him. I told him if he wasn’t gone from our home—permanently—by noon the next day, that I would come back while he slept and cut it clean off. And the next day he was gone.”
“Good lord Annie, I never realized what a badass you really are,” Sue told her.
These ten books introduce Cassie. She is my friend and has been since she wandered into my imagination fifty-four years ago. She is married to Tom, the man who loves her in a way that makes my heart nearly burst with happiness for the two of them. He loves her, guides her, protects her and when necessary, spanks the fool out of her. I’ve been told that their adventures are exciting, funny and realistic. Their love-life is passionate and fulfilling – but you’ll hear no graphic details, Cassie is a lady and giving too much detail would not be proper.
Cal’s Law series
Cal and Jenny are one of my younger couple. The spanking in their relationship began mere minutes after they met, and Cal hasn’t let up much since. There relationship has it’s struggles, but these two are meant to be together. They live in the same town as Cassie and Tom and there is a lot of interactions among the character of both series. Jenny is not as reluctant as Cassie to openly discuss her sex life, so you’ll find a little more spice in this series.
On the River series
In this, my latest series, everyone is around – all the characters I’ve grown to love over the years are living on the area of the river that they call The Landing. Their lives, their adventures, even their spankings sometimes intertwine. By this time in the series, I’m just typing as my characters tell me what’s happening. And I love it!
I’ll close today with a review on the latest book. This is one of the finest reviews I’ve ever had.
Starting with the first Cassie book until now, I have never been disappointed or failed to wait expectantly for the next one.
And, of course, the links -
