It's always a good day when another book comes out and Cassie’s newest book is out – Cassie’s Influence. I like telling my
readers here about it because here I can call it’s Cassie’s book and you all
understand. Cassie’s pretty real to me and here is where I can totally be
myself – you all don’t seem to mind my kind of crazy and I thank you.
I hope you
enjoy this excerpt from...
I'm a sucker
for fresh flowers. I love having them around and sometimes order them for the
house myself. Tom is good about sending me flowers too, but it's not something
he does all the time. So I was delighted one afternoon to open the door to the
flower delivery boy. I was excited as I slipped the bow from around the box and
opened the lid to find beautiful apricot roses. I really had no idea why Tom
had sent them. It wasn't a special occasion and there had been no excessive
spanking for which he could be trying to make up, so I was stumped. I opened
the card to find the following message:
Tom dear,
Your physique is already
perfect. But I enjoy watching you work on it.
Love,
N
What in the
world? Who the hell was 'N' and why was she looking at my husband's physique?
It seemed to me that this time Tom had a little explaining to do.
I took the
flowers out and arranged them in a vase. I fixed up a little, as I usually do
before Tom arrived home, and waited to hear what my dear husband was going to
have to say about this. I greeted him at the door with a kiss and a glass of
wine. "How was your day, sweetie?" I asked.
"Very
normal," Tom answered, "and yours?"
"Oh mine was full of
surprises," I told him as I pointed to the flowers.
Tom looked at
them curiously. "Now just who is sending my beautiful wife flowers?"
he asked with a grin. Matching him grin for grin, I handed him the card.
As he quickly
scanned it, he lost his grin and for one of the few times in our lives together
I saw Tom blush. "Anything you'd like to share with me, dear?" I
asked as I waited for some comment. I simply can't tell you how very much I
enjoy the next few moments as Tom, blushing like a schoolboy, began stuttering
and stammering to explain. I had to laugh at his efforts. Tom, so in control,
always knows exactly what to say and is never, ever flustered. But this had him
tongue-tied.
I sat on the
couch and invited Tom to join me as I began teasing him. "Drink your wine,
dear. Do you need another minute to get your story straight? Or will I have to
take you over my knee to get the whole truth?"
"Now,
honey, you know... This is ridiculous... This person is..." I was totally
enjoying Tom's inability to articulate.
"Now,
Tom, just take a deep breath," I told him, "Let's start at the
beginning. Your new girlfriend, N, what does N stand for?"
"Cassie..."
"No,
honey," I interrupted. "Cassie's my name. You can't go around getting
us mixed up or you could find yourself in some very uncomfortable
situations."
