I have been a wife and mother for over twenty years. Now I am becoming my husband's lover, too.
We owe it all to my fellow bloggers who gave me the courage to come out to my husband as a spanko.
I do feel like this is a New Beginning for us.

Now I'm the badass

This has been the longest week at school ever!  If Megan doesn’t get back soon I’m retiring no matter what.  I’m getting more and more irritated at work.  I used to be so timid, always the peacemaker, I wanted to avoid conflict so badly I’d let anyone walk all over me.  Times have changed.

I think it’s a combination of age and just the fact that I am completely and totally fed up with the bullsh*t in my profession.  People at work now know that if they don’t want me to tell them exactly what I think – don’t ask me.  I will no longer stand by quietly as they pee on my leg and tell me it’s raining.  And you know – that part is fun.

I’ve always enjoyed the children, but now I’m kinda enjoying being the badass at teacher’s meeting.  I remember when I first started out gasping at some of the things older teachers said, and wondering how they possible got up the nerve to say such thing.  Now I know – its realizing that your boss is a boy and that you know more how to teach your students than he does. Its simply doing the job you were hired to do, regardless of every ‘new idea’ that is the momentary ‘most wonderful thing to come to education ever!’  After all, they will change it for a new ‘most wonderful’ thing next year.

I’m blessed that Nick is willing to listen to my complaints about work.  He’ll listen to my bitching and griping, ask me question, commiserate with me for a while and then come at me with a wooden spoon if he thinks I’m letting it get to me too much.  Can’t ask much more than that.  Now If I can just make it through today and tomorrow we’ll finally be to my spring break and I’ll have ten days off to breath and write!  Cross your fingers for me.

  1. i'm still a tiny fry in my organisation and i wish i had more solidarity from co workers. but they tend to shove me forward to say my piece but they'll likely just sit back and gape at my audacity.

but in secret tell me they're glad i stood up for what we all thought was right.

how does that help any of us? duh.

anyway, i've decided to just do my work and ignore the crap from the people "above" and do what i can to LOOK LIKE I"M working within their boundaries, while delivering the best education i can to my kids.

and i'm glad BIKSS listens to me gripe too.

    *you're brave!*

I often smile as they are telling me the new stuff, nod, and then do what I think is right.

  2. Hang in here PK, just keep your eyes on the prize - spring break and a whole 10 days without the BS. Must be so frustrating when you have more experience and knowledge than the boss.

I'm glad Nick is willing to listen and let you unload your work frustrations.

    Hugs,

  4. You'll make it PK. I'm sure.
Maybe with a little help from your slappy friends at home.
Next funny thing those managers will come up with is that it might be useful if the kids actually learned to count to 10.
Last invention in the Netherlands: a final test for the less gifted children that results in exactly the same points as the standard test. Now those poor less-gifted children don't have to think that they are not so smart, because they can say, they have the same number of points in their final test.

    1. Bas,
It seems that on one cares if they can read or count as long as they can work a computer and a calculator. It's sad and I worry about the generation we're producing.

  5. Enjoy the spring break, recharge your batteries and maybe you might even get a spanking or two. And by the time you return to school. the end of the school year will be on the horizon. And it's a shame that this is what the state of our education system is today.

  8. Gosh I agree...*sigh* I love it....NOT...when I look at all the NEW BEST IDEAS. They are all the same and slightly different. It costs a mint to research the new ideas then buy the programs. Oh and each year they figure out it doesn't work. Do the administrators and policy makers learn from past mistakes? No they just do the same thing again.
You are lucky to have Nick to listen and spank! Maybe without that cane!

  9. AND if memory serves me correctly you will have a longer summer break this year than that joke of a break you had last year? Hang in there... summer is coming too!! You know, you should head north over your break. I'd even call in sick!

I think so many teachers are retiring at the first possible moment for these exact reasons. But yeah, a grand baby would really sweeten the pot.

  15. Sometimes you just have to say enough is enough. Be true to yourself, teach like you've always taught and let the chips fall where they may. Summer is coming!

I'm really coming to that. I can't to some of the things that they are pushing. I have to do it right, if they throw me out, fine. I'll come home and write.

  16. If it makes you feel any better it isn't just schools that push the 'flavor of the month' as I used to call it. Whatever the new manager or director thought was the most important that was what we had to do regardless of what wasn't getting done. Enjoy your holiday and before you know it you will be off for the summer.
