Welcome to Saturday Spankings! It’s good to be back home and I’m going to post some about our trip and post some pictures – if I can remember how. But on to today’s snippet, which comes from Suspicions on the River. Everyone is still wondering who trashed Pat’s apartment, but the ladies all decide it’s time for a break and off they go on a girls’ trip. Shortly after they get to the beach and settled, Cassie remembers a story from the past about ladies roaming alone in a hotel…
“Back then we traveled a lot. Sometimes for his work and several times a year to conventions, both state and national. Tom had this thing about me not leaving a hotel room alone and certainly not without telling him where I was going. Nowadays I’m fully aware of Tom’s feelings and the consequences that are likely to befall me if I don’t adhere to this rule faithfully. This wasn’t the case at one convention we attended not too long after we were married.
“That convention was in Las Vegas. And back then, it was one of my all-time favorite cities. This was back in my gambling days and I was looking forward to some action in the casinos as well as some action with my sweet husband. The morning after we arrived, he’d gone to the hotel gym. While he was gone, Sue called, and this is where we get to the ‘It’s all Sue’s fault’ part. She asked me to meet her in one of the hospitality suites. As soon as she said they were making Bloody Mary’s she had my vote and off I went.”
“I did not do one thing wrong,” Sue insisted. “I simply invited a friend to join me in one of the convention’s gathering places. Had she been a sweet little obedient wife, she could have just said no if she thought Tom wouldn’t like the idea.”
“Yeah, yeah,” Cassie said, dismissing Sue’s comment with a wave of her hand. “I was back in the room is less than a half hour, but Tom had beaten me back and he wasn’t happy. ‘Where have you been?’ was his first question. I remember bristling at his tone but I sweetly told him I’d been with Sue at a hospitality room.
“He started in with some speech about me not wandering around in a hotel alone.” Cassie shook her head, “My old-fashioned husband was worse back then than he is now. In his mind no ‘nice’ woman roamed a hotel alone and that I should always let him know where I was going if I left with one of the girls.
“I knew good and well that he was saying that I should have waited and asked his ‘permission’ before going. But answering to anyone, much less asking anyone’s permission to do something, was somewhat of a foreign concept for me at the time.
“I remember telling him something like, ‘It’s the ’80’s Tom, women can vote and everything. I can find my way around a hotel. It’s not like I ran off with one of the lounge acts. I’ve been making my way around this town for years, day and night, completely on my own. You don’t have to know my whereabouts every blessed second.’
“He snapped back with something like, ‘I know you did and I know it darn near killed you.’
“I need another drink,” Cassie interrupted herself.
“I’ll join you,” Sue offered as the two went over to the minibar.
Jenny shook her head. “Can you imagine what the guys would say if they knew how much those two drank on these girls’ trips?”
“Can you imagine what Lily would say?” Annie added.
All the eager listeners were laughing as Cassie and Sue settled back in their chairs.
“Where was I …? Oh yes, Tom was mad at me for leaving the room and I was mad at him for being mad. I seem to remember us having a glaring contest when he said, ‘I told you I’d spank you if you left a hotel room again without telling me where you were going. I’m not letting you run wild like you used to.’
“I told him firmly, ‘You weren’t here to tell! And you are not spanking me!’” Cassie shook her head. “Guess how far that got me.
“He had me over his lap and started spanking hard, while telling me, ‘You may not like it, but you’re going to listen to me.’
“I didn’t like it and I was cussing and telling him he didn’t own me and couldn’t tell me what to do. Remember this was very early in the marriage and I did have a lot to learn. The more I cussed and called him names, the harder he spanked. He kept it up until I finally shut up. I was still mad but I was able to hush.
“He was sweet when he let me up. He told me to just accept how things were now and not to make it harder on myself. Then he said he’d escort me to the lobby where the women were meeting to go on a tour. I was so mad!” Cassie told the girls. “I felt like I was a child being taken to daycare. I remember Tom telling me not to let my temper get me in more trouble. I wanted to punch him so I just turned away and went to find Annie and Sue in the crowd.
“Annie, you went on the tour, didn’t you? I remember that I was too mad to go and Sue stayed with me.”
“Yes, I went,” Annie answered. “These two forces of evil didn’t have quite the hold on me back then that they do now. It was plain to see Cassie was going to be drinking and cussing for the rest of the day. I didn’t want to watch.”
Cassie and Sue both laughed. “She wasn’t wrong,” Cassie told them. “I did spend most of the day drinking and venting. So, by late afternoon I was full of liquid courage and ready to take my stand for independence. I had to show Tom that he was not the boss of me!”
Suspicions on the River,
Book Three
(a Cassie’s family story)
Cal and Jenny have a nearly idyllic marriage. There are rare trips across his lap for minor problems, but most of those trips are just for fun. Could that be changing? Pat, Cal’s former lover, has moved back to town and she wouldn’t mind giving it another try with Cal. She feels he can’t be serious about this little twit that he married so quickly. Pat feels that once Cal realizes she offers him a better option, he’ll choose her. But soon mysterious things begin happening to Pat. Is someone trying to run her out of town? Could that someone be Jenny?
Cassie and the whole river family try to keep Jenny occupied and out of trouble, but suspicions just go from bad to worse. Both Jenny and Pat want Cal and they’re willing to fight for him. How dirty will this fight get?
These ten books introduce Cassie. She is my friend and has been since she wandered into my imagination fifty-four years ago. She is married to Tom, the man who loves her in a way that makes my heart nearly burst with happiness for the two of them. He loves her, guides her, protects her and when necessary, spanks the fool out of her. I’ve been told that their adventures are exciting, funny and realistic. Their love-life is passionate and fulfilling – but you’ll hear no graphic details, Cassie is a lady and giving too much detail would not be proper.
Cal’s Law series
Cal and Jenny are one of my younger couple. The spanking in their relationship began mere minutes after they met, and Cal hasn’t let up much since. There relationship has it’s struggles, but these two are meant to be together. They live in the same town as Cassie and Tom and there is a lot of interactions among the character of both series. Jenny is not as reluctant as Cassie to openly discuss her sex life, so you’ll find a little more spice in this series.
On the River series
In this, my latest series, everyone is around – all the characters I’ve grown to love over the years are living on the area of the river that they call The Landing. Their lives, their adventures, even their spankings sometimes intertwine. By this time in the series, I’m just typing as my characters tell me what’s happening. And I love it!
I’ll close today with a review on the latest book. This is one of the finest reviews I’ve ever had.
Starting with the first Cassie book until now, I have never been disappointed or failed to wait expectantly for the next one.
