My first day of freedom was marvelous. I slept until I
wanted to get up – that in itself made the day
great. I was still up by seven
thirty, made me some breakfast and checked email, blogs, facebook – you know,
the usual. Then about nine I made a cup of coffee and headed to my writing room
and wrote Cassie for a while, about 2,000 words.
Next I was up and out, got a haircut, went to the grocery
store, did a little cleaning around the house, don’t laugh – wait, because I
also cooked supper for my sweet husband! Shall I wait while you all get ahold of
yourselves? Nothing gourmet, hot dogs, corn on the cob, fried potatoes, but I
did cook.
After supper Nick and I headed to the pool to visit and swim a little (I did
wear a suit Eva, but only because it was in the day time). So peaceful. Next week we are heading off of vacation. We’re driving
to Florida, taking our time, Nick love photography and there are some beautiful
places to stop along the way. Our cruise sails next Thursday, it’s a three-day
cruise. Then we’ll take our time driving home again. I’m not used to being away
from my computer for so long, but I think it will be good for me.
So today was nothing too exciting, just a nice peaceful summer day –
the kind all teachers dream of.

Abby,
DeleteThere is nothing better than waking up when your body tells you to.
Sounds wonderful. My kids don't break up to mid-july, I'm still getting up to take them to school each morning. After 6 weeks of vacation, I shall be glad to get back to the usual routine. Enjoy your writing. Take a pad and pen and sit on the deck.

I will DF, I don't go anywhere with out my writing materials. I usually just jot down notes as the scene unfolds in my head.

ReplyDeleteI know that those of us a certain age can't sleep as late as we want.... But it feels great to think we can!
