I know, I know I usually post good
things about my children. I’m usually telling you I think they’re intelligent
and basically – well, perfect. But want do you do with a grown child who
totally goes against your wishes and does something you’ve been begging them
NOT to do for more than a decade?
Although I’ve never posted a picture of either of kids before I’m
posting the picture Mollie sent me last Friday so you’ll know the child is nuts! Scroll down...
Yep, that my Mollie. The idiot jumped
out of a fully fictionally plane. This was while she was on spring break. I blame
Nick who did the same crazy thing back when he was in college. She ignored my
repeated request that she never do such a thing, but she did go with me on one
thing. I asked if she ever did do
such a stupid thing, that she not tell me until she was safely back on the
ground.
I was at a program about the Wright
Brothers with my students. I checked my phone right before it began.
Once my heart started beating again (she did send another picture showing her
on the ground grinning from ear to ear) I sat for the whole program wishing she
was little again and cursing the Wright Brother for inventing the stupid
airplane in the first place.
LOL PK...my oldest pulled the same stunt. Have never understood the desire to jump out of an airplane that is under control and not on fire! Buy them books and buy them books and all they do is eat the pages!
ReplyDeleteSo happy your heart restarted with no problems. ;-)
Hugs and blessings...
Cat
I barely want to fly all strapped in - so I don't get it either, but what can you do? Go back and try to raise them with no confidence - guess not.
DeletePK,
ReplyDeletethat seems to be the thing these days, even older people.
Never even crossed my mind, I'm glad to say.
Love and warm hugs,
Paul.
Paul,
DeleteBoy it never crossed mine either!
PK,
ReplyDeleteI've always wanted to do something like that but never got around to it.
Son did this when he was travelling around Europe and sent me the picture.
Love,
Ronnie
xx
Well Ronnie, it's never too late - if you are really that nutty!
DeleteAh...my son called me just before he got on the plane....I quickly explained that is the type of activity you wait and call after you have safely landed!
ReplyDeletehugs abby
Abby,
DeleteBoy, did he get that backwards! Loved not knowing until she was down!
I am praying neither of my kids will do this!
ReplyDeleteI am glad Mollie is on the ground safe and sound!
Minelle, are you telling me you don't want be to get Mollie in touch with your kids? I'm sure she would be happy to tell them all about it! LOL!
DeleteNo way! I have enough mischief with my two!!
DeleteTell her the Serial Killer say "you go girl."
ReplyDeleteI think you may be groaning on her!
DeleteNext time she tells you it's not safe to meet strange men from the Internet, tell her it is safer that jumping out of airplanes. LOL
ReplyDeleteFD
You'd think she would see the correlation, but apparently not.
DeleteSorry, PK, but I don't have your back on this one. When I was young I wanted to hang glide and parachuting but could never get anyone to go with me. Go figure. Mind you, I am afraid of heights but it just seems like so much fun. Some day I will parasail, maybe.
ReplyDeleteThat being said, I am not sure what I would do if my daughter did it.
Kaki,
DeleteTo be truthful I'm really kinda proud of her - freaked out, but proud.
Hi Pk. and she didn't want you to go off meeting your friends!! The girl is bonkers, I wouldn't want to know till afterwards either. Kids get harder as they get older, when they are little they just do what you say, now they do what they like!
ReplyDeletelove Jan.xx
You know back before they learned to roll over we always knew where they were and basically what they were doing. Oh well.
DeleteI am so glad neither of my kids felt the need to do this. And I hate and loathe heights myself. Even hate getting from one place to another in a little tin can 8 miles high!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to Mollie though - she certainly has the spirit of adventure gene.
Hugs
Ami
Ami,
DeleteYep and she definitely got it from her dad, except the meeting other bloggers part.
Oh my PK, Mollie is far braver than me! Glad she didn't tell you until she was safely on the ground!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Roz
Way braver than me too!
DeleteHi PK, I meant to say, the shoe was on the other foot here. A number of years ago my Mum did a sky dive ... and we knew about it before she went!
DeleteYay, skydiving! Incredible experience--and actually incredibly safe. Driving a car is FAR more dangerous for her, but I suppose it doesn't seem that way to a mother ;)
ReplyDeleteAutumn, I know you're right, but I still fight the urge to hold her hand when we cross the street. Soon enough I guess she'll be the one needing to help me across the street.
DeleteI have never been much of a risk taker myself. Did she enjoy the experience. I can imagine that it must be exhilarating although you would not find me doing it myself, nor do I have any desire to discover my children wish to do so someday if they should decide to be adventurous. :-) Hugs
ReplyDeleteTerps,
DeleteShe seemed to love it and I'm proud she wanted to do something exciting - but I hope her next adventure is on the ground!
Yikes! I'm with you...don't tell me until it's over!
