I have been a wife and mother for over twenty years. Now I am becoming my husband's lover, too.
We owe it all to my fellow bloggers who gave me the courage to come out to my husband as a spanko.
I do feel like this is a New Beginning for us.

Wake up call

I am back at work now and that means my morning begins with an alarm clock. I got a new clock about a year ago. I picked it out because it had an Ipod dock and I like music in the bedroom. Another good thing about it is that it has a gradual alarm. I like it coming on very, very quietly and I can quickly hit the snooze before it gets loud at all. I usually hit the snooze 3 times (about a half hours worth) but I want it to come on quietly – I’ll hear in. Of course if you don’t hit it fast it gets loud quickly!!!

But I really don’t like that clock because I can’t see the time! It’s just like this one and the whole number pad glows but the numbers don’t stand out well enough for me to read the time from the middle of the bed where Nick and I sleep. I had to crawl over to read the time – pain in the butt.

So for my birthday my sister got me one like this from across the room.

I love it. I knew I was going to have to learn how to set it and try out the alarm before Monday morning so Sunday afternoon I tried it out while I was putting away my laundry.

(Note here – new rule in the house, my laundry has to be put away within 24 hours of it coming out of the dryer. I merely made this as a suggestion to help me get a handle on it and what does my husband do???? He listened! Geeze, who expected that?! Anyway, I digress.)

The clock worked perfectly. It was easy to set the alarm and it also start off quietly. But it was still with a heavy heart that I went to bed knowing it would alarm Monday morning.

It seemed I had only be asleep an hour when it went off. I am quick as a snake to hit the snooze but when is did nothing happened. It kept alarming and rapidly getting louder. It had worked the day before!! What was wrong and why wouldn’t it shut up??

It was getting into some major noise now I was pushing every button I could find! It’s now going on loud enough to wake the dead. Nick jumps up and turns on the lamp to help me see and then the overhead light as I continue to beat the new clock.

Then somewhere through the daze two things dawn on me. It’s not the new clock but the old one that is alarming – I don’t even remember touching that one but somehow I must have turned it on by mistake. And the second thing was that it was 1:05 AM! Poor Nick, nothing like being wakened in the middle of the night for no good reason. It’s no problem for me I can go back to sleep anytime but it is not always as easy for Nick. Oh well I think I have it worked out right, the old clock off and the new one is on. If Nick wants to pay me back sometime – well I did give him a dog legged bath brush for Christmas. You never know!

    PK:
Literally laughing out loud!!! Hysterical. That new clock with the BIG NUMBERS, looks like it lights up the whole room, how do you fall asleep with it on?
And too funny, it felt like only an hour goes by.
Your husband is a gem, I am back doing the damn laundry again this hoh stuff is not all its cracked up to be. And I'm very jealous of your sleeping ability, If my alarm went off at 1am, I would probably be up for the rest of the night!
I hope tonight works out better than last night
    Take care,
    Andrades Girl

PK, You poor thing! I can just see it happening. LOL, if you don't want to fold clothes when they come out of dryer, just hang them on line(he didn't say anything about that).
I set my stove alarm since I don't have a clock right now.

  5. PK I dunno how you do it. I hate alarm clocks. My mum bought me one that sang Bill Haley - Rock around the clock. At the end of a week I launched the bloody thing out the window.

  8. Oh my gosh, that's so funny. Now that I think about it, I haven't even heard the alarm clock I gave Hubby for Christmas. He must get to it before I hear it.

I surely hope he doesn't catch on to the whole 'laundry put away in a timely fashion or else' theme here. That's become (or has it always been?) one of his pet peeves, too. I'm perfectly happy with my sexy spankings, no punishments needed, thanks very much. I'm really glad he doesn't read this stuff unless I send it to him... at least I don't think he does. He has seemed to have insider information lately that I don't recall giving him. Hmm.

If I haven't said it yet, have a happy new year. :)

  11. PK, that's hilarious, I often wish that I needed an alarm clock.
That bath brush looks more than a little ouchie, is that what you will get if you don't do the laundry.
    Love and warm hugs,
    Paul.

  12. Andrades!
Nick is a doll! (except on insisting I get the laundry put away!)

I have been blessed to be able to sleep anywhere anytime!

    Jean,
I hate to admit it but Nick does the laundry and folds it - he just wants me to put mine up then.

    David,
You would laugh at your sister??

    Mthc,
    You sound so domestic!

    Jay,
I have gotten used to it over the years. I am still not wild about it - but used to it.

    Carye,
I hate getting up on school day too!!

    K,
You never know about these husbands they seem to do a lot of reading! But we will try to keep quiet about the laundry! LOL!

    Tig,
I could sleep in a spot light. Sleep has never been a problem for me!

    Ronnie,
It might bug me if they were red or green. But the blue makes me happy. That reminds me of something I could blog about - my blue light!

    Paul,
Nick had popped me with it a couple of times but I just don't know exactly how it will be used.

  13. too funny...my husband has an alarm that gets louder and louder and once and a while he will forget to turn it off and I will press every button on the darn thing to try to get it to stop as I never use it...I have my own two alarms - child 1 and child 2 plus I wake up quite easily as I am a light sleeper...except on snow days...today I got to "sleep" for 15 extra minutes... :-) Hugs, Terps

PK, alarms are fun. I use my mobile since the power was somewhat unpredictable when we first moved to where we are now. The snooze on that is only 5 mins though.

Back to work, yup, can do without that!

    Hugs
    Mina
