I have been a wife and mother for over twenty years. Now I am becoming my husband's lover, too.
We owe it all to my fellow bloggers who gave me the courage to come out to my husband as a spanko.
I do feel like this is a New Beginning for us.

The Joys of Vertigo

Apparently that’s what I have.  It hit Wednesday morning.  Just felt a bit off when I got up, slight dizziness is normal for me, and I didn’t think anything about it.  But as the morning progressed at school it got worse and worse.  I came on home around 10 and all I could think of was getting to my bed.  I assumed it was the stomach virus that so many around here are stricken with.  I crawled in bed for four hours or so with out moving – girls, I didn’t even take off my bra! Any time I got up I felt sick.  Didn’t even want to check the computer. Nick later told me if I’d shared with him that I’d refused a Krispy Kream donut at school and came home and didn’t touch the computer he would probably have called 911.

I tried getting up after Nick got home, even got on the computer for a little while, but when I reached for something far to my left the nausea and dizziness got way worse and I went back to bed.  I stayed out of school the next day and went to the doctor.  She suspected vertigo and gave me some medicine and some exercises.  I felt better and planned on going to school the next day. I went, but I felt pretty bad and even came home during planning to sleep for forty-five minutes.  I think the medicine makes me sleepy.  I was really hoping to be over it today (Saturday) but the dizziness persists, I am better.  I can get up and function a little.  I can walk around without getting sick.  I can read a little and be on the computer for short burst.  But I still have the overwhelming feeling that I just want to lay down and sleep.  So, is that the vertigo or the medicine?  What ever it’s going to be hard to teach with it if this keeps up.  It doesn’t sound as bad as I know some people get it, but I need it gone.  It was interesting, now I’ve done it and it needs to go!

The wonderful gift Nick made for me is complete and I’ll have pictures up soon.  Meanwhile I’m just trying to get back to normal – that’s not actual ‘normal’, just normal for me.

  1. I don't know what meds you are on, but my doc told me to take Dramamine. That made me sleepy!

I didn't feel sleepy with vertigo, only the drugs. I just didn't want to move.

I hope the room stops spinning soon!

    HUGS!

    1. Grace,
That's it exactly, it's bad enough being dizzy, but I can function. The sleepiness at school Friday nearly did me in.

  2. It's probably the meds. Vertigo is horrible. I suffer with positional vertigo, absolutely fine unless I look up at the sky or ceiling, probably why there are way too many cobwebs on our ceilings. What you can't see.....
It will pass, keeping still helps as much as sleeping. Hope you feel better soon. x

I feel a little as if it's wearing off. Still a little dizzy, but I'm not feeling sick or anything.

I've been surprised to hear how many people have had some problems with it at one time or another. I hope it doesn't show up often.

I'm going to school without the meds tomorrow - it seems a choice between falling down and sleeping. If I just fall down I can keeping teaching from the floor.

I was off a day and a half - I just hate to waste sick days on days when I don't feel well. At the end they will have to pay me for them.

I really hate taking meds of any kind. This was fine when I was home in bed, but I can't take them and work. This stuff is just going to have to wear off.

  15. PK, Sorry to hear about the vertigo problems. I am not sure if it would help, but have you heard about the wristbands that relieve nausea? Gogle "Motion sickness wristbands" and it will give you a varity to choose from.

I wish you a blessed...and vertigo free day.

    1. George,
I have heard of those. Right now I have no nausea (thank God), but I might look into this. It could help the dizziness and I could have one around if it does come back strong. Thanks.

  16. I get it about twice a year and have to do those exercises were you lay on the bed stare at the wall and rotate your head to the opposite side for a week I was told a peace of cartilage in the ear broke off and floats inside the ear and that is what causes the virago.

Teaching from the floor would be interesting I can see it now LOL
