I have been a wife and mother for over twenty years. Now I am becoming my husband's lover, too.
We owe it all to my fellow bloggers who gave me the courage to come out to my husband as a spanko.
I do feel like this is a New Beginning for us.

Happy weekend

I hope the weather where you are was as good as mine today! It was perfect Saturday! High 70's and just beautiful. Nick said this morning "I just bet you could find people on the golf course today."

My response was "Why, you think their internet's down?"

But today's weather even got an addict like me away from the computer. LJ is on spring break this week and he and Collin came for a nice visit this afternoon and we took them out for supper tonight. He got a big kick out of one of his birthday presents. I had saved the spring/summer, the fall/winter and the Christmas catalogs from the year he was born - 1988. I think age 21 was a good time to give them to him. Here were the prices, fashions, hair styles, gadgets, and toys from back then. The wedding fashions were the ones that got the most tickled. I suggest this for any one having a baby. Stick the catalogs back somewhere. You'll be glad you did!

I did have an interesting email from LJ this past week. I am assuming it's not the typical request from a 21 year old son but it sure did make me smile. This is what he sent.

so i was trying to remember the lyrics to "hush little baby"

I looked them up and most of the ones online are the same, but not what you sang. they're alright up until "mama's gonna buy you a billy goat." Most of the ones I find go to "if that billy goat won't pull" but didn't you sing "if that billy goat runs away?"

anyway, if you remember it i'd love to know your version if you want to type it out for me. :D I love you. I'll be home tonight and i'll see you soon.

It's been a long time since I sang that to either of my children but I remembered. I sang it to them just the way my mom had sung it to me. So I sent him the lyrics, I thought it was sweet that he wanted to know.

I added this for Grace -

Hush little baby don't say a word,
Mama's gonna buy you a mocking bird.

And if that mocking bird won't sing,
Mama's gonna buy you a diamond ring.

And if that diamond ring turns brass,
Mama's gonna buy you a looking glass.

And if that looking glass gets broke,
Mama's going to buy you a billy goat.

And if that billy goat runs away,
Mama's gonna buy you a horse and sleigh.

And if that horse and sleigh won't run,
Mama's gonna buy you a Gatlin' gun.

And if that Gatlin' gun won't shoot,
Mama's gonna buy you a horn - toot, toot.

Now the email I got from Nick was of a little different nature but it made me smile too. Here is what he sent me Friday.

I was not sure if we had enough for a load of laundry......until I started collecting your cast off socks, behind the bed and bunches next to your chair! I probably didn't find them all. I think you know where the dirty clothes go. If not, perhaps you need reminding the next time we are alone for a while.

I forget! I get hot sitting in the chair and I take off my socks. I always mean to take them back to the bedroom but I forget! Okay, so maybe Nick can help me remember. At least I'll appreciate him trying.

  1. Now I'm interested to know what version of hush little baby you sang, because I sang "if that billy goat runs away" too! So, did we sing the same version, or what?

I didn't save catalogs, but I saved a "Womans Day" magazine from the year I graduated. I recently found it and the wildchild and I looked through it together. Wow, times have changed! Fun to look at thought.

Well, weather is fine here! Still 70s. Didn't hit the golf course though, around here, we hit the beach. But hey, I won't rub it in too much.

    HUGS!

  2. Good morning PK. Rain coming in here, quite windy and cold.

I used to sing a shorter version -

Hush, little baby, don't say a word.
Moma’s gonna buy you a mockingbird

And if that mockingbird won't sing,
Moma’s gonna buy you a rocking horse

And if that rocking hose wont rock
Moma’s gonna buy you a looking glass

And if that looking glass gets broke,

Moma’s gonna buy you a billy goat
And if that billy goat won't pull,

You'll still be the sweetest little boy in town.

Saved lots of things from when son born, in the middle of doing a photo book from when he was a baby until now, will give him that for part of his 21st which is in a couple of months.

Loved the email from NIck and I hope he does remind you later

    Enjoy your Sundy PK.

  3. What a good idea to save those catalogs.

And I can't wait for a report on how Nick decided to help you remember not to forget your socks.

And does he do the laundry so you have more time to spend online.

  4. The beach - Grace - you just can't help torturing us can you. I posted my version of the song for you. I loved looking through those books with him. What a hoot!

    Ronnie,
How funny that there are so many versions yet nearly every mother sang that song to her baby.

I really like the idea of the photo album you are creating. Maybe I'll make one for when he finishes college and plans on moving pretty far away.

    FD,
I'll let everyone know if we get some alone time for reminders.

Now don't get him thinking about why he is doing the laundry or he will be thinking of other thing to remind me about!! LOL!

  7. Theresa,
1988 was definately the best year for having little boys! We got two of the very best!

    Ciara,
OMG! Not now! LOL!! But I know that LJ and Collin would make wonderful parents if they decide to have children some day. But I think my best bet is Mollie - but not for a long time, please!

  8. Hush little baby, don't say a word. Mamma's gonna buy you a mocking bird.

If that mocking bird won't sing, mamma's gonna buy you a diamond ring.

If that diamond ring turns brass, mamma's gonna buy you a looking glass.

If that looking glass gets broke, mamma's gonna buy you a billy goat.

If that billy goat won't pull, mamma's gonna buy you a cart and bull.

If that cart and bull turns over, mamma's gonna buy you a dog named rover.

If that dog namaed rover won't bark, mamma's gonna buy you a horse and cart.

If that horse and cart falls down, you'll still be the sweetest baby in town.

    :-)

Ha socks, they grow legs you know and scamper around on their own. That song is very cute, I have never heard any verses past the diamond ring one.

    Hi PK:
I am sorry I am so late...I finally have my computer back, now that my GD went back home!
I love your remark about the people on the Golf Course...too funny and I feel the same way.
Your present for your son was so sweet...I bet he just loved it. I am sure you all had a great time going out for dinner.
I love the way Nick e-mails you, that is so sweet. I leave my shoes all over the place, the other day I was late to work, because I could only find one boot! It took both of us 1/2 hour to find the other one. Good luck with your socks :)
    Take care
    AG

  13. Jessica, Grace - I like both versions. I like the way we each remember the one out mothers sang.

    Yaya,
We had a great time with the boys and we loved out weather too.

    Mina,
So it's not my fault the socks were in all those places, I'll tell Nick!

    AG,
Glad you have access to your computer again. GK are great but you can't blog with them around.

When one of my shoes is missing I can bet it's in the yard. Our dog is a terrible thief. Thank goodness he doesn't chew them up he just carries them out.

  14. PK, love your remark about golf course. As for the socks, maybe put a basket in several places so you can throw socks in. That was sweet he wanted the song.

  15. My mom sang a different song to me and now its my son's favorite lullaby amongst several others I like to sing to my two sweeties. So sweet that at 21 he asked you the lyrics of the lullaby you sang to him... :-) Ok, lots of catching up to do...Hugs, Terps
