I have been a wife and mother for over twenty years. Now I am becoming my husband's lover, too.
We owe it all to my fellow bloggers who gave me the courage to come out to my husband as a spanko.
I do feel like this is a New Beginning for us.

We will soon be

We have an anniversary coming up this week – a big one. Thursday we will have been married for 25 years. Had I known I was going to be a teacher I would never have gotten married in early June. I am often so busy our day goes by almost unnoticed. But I am not terrible sentimental about the actual day really. And with the man I married that’s a good thing. To tell you the truth Nick can really be romantics at times but it doesn’t always come naturally to him. But it occurred to me that I have never told you all about when Nick asked me to marry him. Perhaps that is because he never has asked me. Let me explain.

Nick and I had been dating nearly two years. We were happy with each other but neither of us felt the need to rush into marriage even though we were 26 and 31. I had lived alone for 7 years and Nick had lived alone for 13. Marriage was going to be a big change for us. So we had talked a little but no proposal.

Then one Friday as I was headed to his house for the weekend Nick called and asked me to bring over an album he had given me. I told him fine but I forgot to take it. When he asked about it I teased him and said “I forgot it but if you want in here you know how you could have it here all the time!” Nick just laughed and said it would be cheaper to just buy another album.

The next weekend he called and asked me to bring it again. Again I told him fine and again I forgot it. When he asked this time I said “I told you how you could get it here all the time!” Nick looked at me and sighed and said “Okay, when do you want to move it in?” And that, folks, was as close as he ever came to asking me to marry him!

Okay there was no sky writing, no personalized score boards, no rose pedals, no down on one knee, no ring in a champagne glass. But we loved each other and we did want to get married. We went to get a ring the next day (Saturday) but I didn’t tell anyone just yet. Maybe there is a little bit of a brat in me after all because I went to church Sunday morning I didn’t say a word to my mother. I sat peacefully with my folks through the opening of church and a few songs, my right covering my ring. I waited until the preacher started preaching then I nudged my mom. I held out my left hand and pointed to the ring. Her eyes nearly popped out of her head and she immediately started stammering in a whisper. “Shhhhhhhhh!” I shushed her as she had so often called my dad and me down when we whispered, “The preacher is preaching!” She tried to contain herself and as she quieted I leaned over and whispered “June” (it was already February). Mom looked startled “June? This June??!” I knew she was thinking of all the time and details that had gone into my sisters wedding. Years later I started to tell her that I was pregnant with LJ the same way but I knew she would have dragged me out of church and spanked me for sure it I had tried that stunt again!

The wedding was beautiful. It was pretty much what my mom wanted. Honestly the wedding didn’t matter that much to me. I just wanted to get married and mom really had a vision of what he wanted for her daughter. At our age Nick was insistent that he and I pay for a great deal of the wedding but it was a lot of fun. Bridzilla I am not, I just enjoyed the party!

One thing many of our friends said at the time that I didn’t really understand was that they thought we would make a great old couple. I couldn’t understand why they said that – I mean we were young at the time. But they saw something, I think it was their way of saying they could tell we would be together for a long time. They were right – we used to say we skipped our first marriage and went directly to our second. Lots of our friends at the time who had gotten married in there late teens and then divorced were starting to remarry. I think waiting until 26 and 31 was good for us.

Now you all know how much I love Nick romantic or not. I don’t want you to think he has no romance in him – he did get me a very special wedding gift. Something that no one else has ever given me. In fact he felt is was so special that he replaced it on our 20th wedding anniversary. Want to see a picture of my special wedding and 20th anniversary gift? Scroll down…

Keep going, you are really going to love this!

Oh well, he turned out to be a great spanker!!

  1. Was it bright red like that one? I mean, a cherry red wheelbarrow? What could be better than that? I mean besides a cherry red behind.

Happy 25th! I hope you make it at least to your happy 50th!

    Hugs,
    Marcus

  3. PK, I always knew that you were a brat at heart.
That's a sweet story, real love doesn't need the trimmings.
Love the wheelbarrow, what's he going to get you for your twenty-fifth a motorised one. LOL.
Have a great day, may there be many more in health and happiness, and I hope that you get the very best anniversary spanking ever.
    Love and warm hugs,
    Paul.

  4. Congratulations, PK. I just celebrated my 30th last week. It is amazing to look back and see how far one has come in life with a special someone by their side. I, for one, wouldn't change a thing. I suspect you wouldn't either.

I can't say that I ever received a wheelbarrow or any type of yard work item. I hate yard work! However, lately I've been doing a ton of it. It sucks! hehe

    Happy 25th.

    Hugs,

    Debbie :)

  5. I told Mthc we were going to buy a new carbureator for my car. When we got to the mall I told her lets go in the jewelry store. She tried some on and I asked her which one she liked. Well thats how I did it anyway. A big Happy 25th to both of you!

    *hugs and grins*

Maybe the gift was that she never had to use the wheelbarrow. And maybe PK failed to mention some of the things that she wanted that appeareed when I unwrapped my gifts from her. Anyway it seems to work.

  9. PK,
Congratulations on your 25th anniversary! Our 25 is just a few months away. How wonderful that you have been on such a journey to find your wheelbarrow giving man can also give you want you've really wanted for so long. Best wishes for at least another 25 years of Happiness!
    Hugs, Sally
P.S.I love the way you told your Mom about the engagement!

  10. Happy Anniversay,

People think I am crazy for asking for a truck load of manure every year for my birthday, but he also helps spread it. Now I know what to get him our 20th anniversary as our old wheelbarrow is falling apart. I think that is true love, myself!

  13. PK,
Congratulations on your anniversary. Now Tom has never given me a wheelbarrow but actually I could use one at the river.

I think you and Nick are perfect for one another. It is clear to see that you adore each other!

    Love,
    Cassie

  14. Marcus,
Actually it was a yellow one. I wonder how things would have been different if my wedding gift had been a cherry red behind.

    Grace,
I think back on the 'proposal' with great fondness. And I really would like 25 spanks way more than 25 roses.

    Paul,
I have been surprises at just how romantic Nick has become in the past couple of years. Candles in the bedroom, the occasional spanking toy. He is a doll!

    Debbie,
30 years is great! You are right about one thing I would not change a thing!

That was cool David, Nick would actually have gotten me a carburetor.

    Eva,
I never said I used it!

    I Gal,
I am proud of making it 25 years, you are right that is becoming more and more rare.

    Nick,
I can't imagine what gifts you are talking about. I know you loved the rose colored lamp I got you and the bedspread I picked out for you. And we both enjoyed our 13 anniversary gift to each other - remember the back yard swing set complete with slide! I think we do great on gifts!

    Sally,
Good for your 25 too. It has been a wonderful journey! Especially the last 2 years.

Teasing my parents was one of my favorite past times!

    Jo!
It that's what you want it is exactly what you should ask for! And if he is helping with the spreading, well what more could he do! I like that we are not hung up on gifts that everyone would 'expect' but we can ask for what we really want.

Glad to see you here, come back often!

    Lori,
Thanks. I am happier than I ever expected to be. I'm in for another 25 years!

    Mthc,
Yeah, I guess old Nick had a point.
33 years is great!! We were together 2 years before we married.

    Cassie,
I don’t know of any husband that gives better gifts than Tom but you are right Nick is the very best!!

ahhh... we think it's a very romantic story, wheelbarrow and all! Had you been dragged out of church and spanked, that would have been an interesting story too... lol.

    Congrats on 25!

  17. Happy Anniversary, you two! Our tenth is on the 26th this month. I gave my mom 3 1/2 months to put our wedding together, and of course she did great job - but I think she wished we would have gone with a long, relaxing engagement! :)
