I have been a wife and mother for over twenty years. Now I am becoming my husband's lover, too.
We owe it all to my fellow bloggers who gave me the courage to come out to my husband as a spanko.
I do feel like this is a New Beginning for us.

You won't believe this.

What a day. All in all my Saturday had its ups and downs. It started off great. Nick and I got to sleep late and slowly woke up to some good lovin’! Then after breakfast I played on the computer for awhile and then strangely Mollie got up about 9:30. She had gotten a call to baby sit and although she didn’t really want to get up she decide to take the job and off she went.

Nick and I also had plans for the day. We were planning to go car shopping to see what we could find as a third car for Mollie’s use (not her car you notice, but a third family car that she can use when we say so). But you know what can really spoil a car buying mood – a call from your 16-year-old, the one who has had her license for 8 days, calling to tell you she back into a car in the driveway where she was babysitting.

Geeze!

She called on her dad’s phone but asked to speak to me. Why do my kids always leave it to me to break the bad news to their dad? Don’t bother answering, I already know, it’s because I am the mom. We went over to pick her up because she was upset. Although the other car was only slightly damaged, you really couldn’t tell if you weren’t really looking for it, it was slightly dented. It was a little Honda with a plastic bumper, not metal, so since it can’t be beaten out. The bumper will have to be replaced if that is what the girl wants. And small or not that will run into money. The girl was way more upset for Mollie that she was worried about her car. Everyone was really sweet to her but Mollie was just devastated.

Nick as you can imagine was not thrilled. But he handled it as well as a father could I suppose. He vented to me but did not rant to Mollie. Really she felt so bad there was nothing to say. Fussing could not have made her feel any worse and it wouldn’t have undone what happened so what could I do except tell her I loved her and it would be okay. When she got home from another babysitting job Saturday night Nick asked her what happened and we all talked about it some more. Bless her heart I know I should be upset with her but when I see her so sorry about what happened all I can think of is how to make her feel better.

Anyway Nick and I decided that we were not going to change our minds about the car because of one moment of inattentiveness and we went back out looking. We ended up getting a car. Sigh… I hope we made the right decision. We will let her know about the car Sunday morning.

So that was my Saturday. How was yours?

  1. At least it wasn't really bad and I know she is devastated. Today is a new day and it will be better for all of you.

  2. I just had to comment because I can relate to your daughter. When I was sixteen (many, many years ago!) and had only had my license a couple of months I was backing out of a parking place, misjudged the distance and hit the car next to me. Fortunately the owner & my folks were great about it but I still remember how upset I was.

The good thing & I'm sure this will be true of your daughter, is that I was VERY careful after that! This will probably improve her driving skills - good luck to all of you!

Smart mom and dad to purchase a "family car" which can be used by Mollie. See, I'm taking notes for three years from now when my gal turns sixteen. And Kudos to you and Nick for being sweet and supportive in a frustrating situation. I had a good Saturday too. I had fun visiting with my sister. My hubby will be home from a business trip tomorrow and I really miss him, especially when some people have to bring up topics like "good lovin". Sighing, Marie

Spent my Saturday shopping for a wedding dress with my daughter. What a wonderful time and one of many special memories I will cherish. I also posted a joke on my blog that backfired after the picture I put at the bottom did not come out. So now some readers who did not see the picture think I am pregnant at my age- GEEZ!!! I should have stayed on sabbatical (actually like you said- I need to keep on writing especially when things are crazy)
Did you buy a porche PK?
    Ciao,
    I Gal

  5. PK, if Mollie is the bright girl she seems to be, she will learn from this.
Don't buy Mollie a car, if she wants one of her own let her work for it, she will value it much more.
You both handled that very well, wise parents are a blessing.
    Love and warm hugs,
    Paul.

  6. Sounds to me like you and Nick both handled this event really well. These things happen, as you know. I have been in the same situation as Molly myself.

My Saturday went well, thank you, as Kallisto got to try out her cheerleader outfit for the first time! Unfortunately I haven't blogged about the experience yet, but we did have another interesting event take place that will appear on my blog on Monday. I write my posts a day or two in advance, so it takes time for them to show up after they happen sometimes.

I hope you finish your weekend in great style! I'm sure we will.

I got into a fender bender about 6 months after getting my license and it was AWFUL. But I remember my mother was so nice about it and didn't yell once. Kudos to you for being so calm. I'm sure Molly will be much more careful in the future.

Good parenting is hard, but worth it - you did great! I, too, remember making a mistake as a beginning driver. 35 years later, I can still vividly remember how terrible I felt for so long. We did the same thing for our kids - a third car to make things easier, but only for them to use when we said so. Funny how much alike we all are isn't it?

  10. I want to thank everyone for coming by. I think we all have experienced something like this. I hope Mollie take two things away from this experience. One, be more careful!!!! Two, be nice to my grandchildren if and when they find themselves in the same situation.
