We’ve been
married for thirty-four years and in all that time I’ve never once taken off my
wedding band. It’s had to come off a time or two for surgery, but Nick’s always
removed it and put it back on.
So why would I take it off myself after all this time? Because
Nick’s not here to take care of me this weekend. He’s golfing and I managed to spill
scalding broth on my hand. I was right by the sink and started running cold
water over it at once. It wasn’t nearly as bad as it could have been, but I was
worried that there would be swelling so I very reluctantly removed my ring. I
kept the cool water flowing for a long time. It’s red, but there hasn’t been
much swelling and no blistering.
It’s not been
my best two days. Thursday, I broke a tooth, and of course my dentist is on
vacation. He’s supposed to be back Tuesday, so I hope I can get in then. I’m going
to be very careful the rest of the weekend. Sitting quietly reading or writing sounds
good.
If it’s hot
where you are you should stay in and read. For those who have never read a
Cassie book, I have a snippet up from the first book up over at the Reading Room.
PK! Don't scare us like that. Take it easy and no paper cuts while you sit there quietly reading. ;) Amy
ReplyDeleteThanks Amy, I think I'm safe on my Kindle.
DeleteOh gosh PK, you have been in the wars, poor you! Use some burn cream just in case, even if it looks ok. I hope you can get straight into the dentist. Take care!

So far so good on the fingers. Could have been really bad if I'd been too far from water. I'm hoping to hear from the dentist tomorrow.
DeleteHi Pk, oh dear, horrid few days. Hope you feel better soon, and Nick hurries home!
ReplyDeletelove Jan, xx
I'm about ready to see Nick for sure.
DeletePK, You have had a horrible few days. Make sure you do take care of yourself. Roz is right, go and get some burn cream.

Fingers and hand seem fine, I put my ring back on.
DeletePK,
ReplyDeleteI was not worried from reading the title of this post. That man adores you. I guess I will just worry about you when Nick leaves town.
This sounds like another good reason for you to stay out of the kitchen. Also sounds like a damn good reason to eat a big bowl of Ben and Jerry's.
Hugs From Ella
The kitchen has never been my room and I doubt that will ever change.
DeleteDear PK,
ReplyDeletePlease look after yourself. Sit quietly and read.
Hope you are better soon
You have suggested what I do best. I'll take your advice.
DeletePK, I hope the scalded finger is healing well and you're having a quiet weekend. Ella's suggestion sounds a good idea!

Ice cream, reading and writing - now that's a good weekend.
DeleteHi PK! :) I'm sorry that you had such a tough week! I hope that your burn is on the mend. How those can hurt!!! I hope that you were a very good girl this weekend, and stayed quiet and out of trouble! Ice cream sounded like an excellent idea! I bet that you were glad to see Nick home! Hope that you get a swift appointment at the dentist this week. Feel good! Many hugs,
