I have been a wife and mother for over twenty years. Now I am becoming my husband's lover, too.
We owe it all to my fellow bloggers who gave me the courage to come out to my husband as a spanko.
I do feel like this is a New Beginning for us.

A mild rant

Morning! I just felt a bit like writing today. First I want to direct you back to the Fantasy Friday this week, a very well written story that has two more parts to come. I don’t want you to miss out on the first so one so go here to read. Another place I would suggest you read this morning is Todd and Suzy! There post today is wonderful. If you are a trying to get your partner to consider a DD relationship and they are still a little confused and hesitant about how to proceed this is a well written must read!!!

As for me this morning, I have a little rant. It’s about something that is none of my business but it is bugging me a little so I can rant if I want to. Everyone seems to be talking about the ‘pregnant man’ on the news. The story was on Good Morning America and Oprah, and it was in People Magazine. I don’t get it.

I am very open and accepting of different lifestyles and I have great respect for individual choice. I respect people who are straight, spankos, gays, lesbians, and transgender. So the fact that this person in the news made the decision to medically, surgically and legally go from a female to a male certainly does not bother me in the least. I applauded the courage it took to proceed with what must have been a confusing and stressful decision.

But I am still confused at the current news stories. If I have this right we are talking about an individual who was born with a uterus and a vagina who went through in-vitro fertilization and became pregnant. It doesn’t matter if the individual has a beard or boobs, or is called Sam or Sally the genetic and body parts are female and if you have these body parts pregnancy is an achievable goal. This doesn’t seem like a new story to me. Am I missing something?

So you're saying it really isn't newsworthy? I agree... I mean the person was born with the parts, had the sex change, kept the parts that still work. Big deal? Is that what you're saying? If so, I agree. Big deal.

  2. That's pretty much what the local news commentators have been saying. This is not a pregnant man. It is a pregnant husband, but if we use the correct nomenclature, it is not a man.

    Transgender is the correct form.

Started as a woman, never made it all the way to man.

But Oprah seemed to buy into it enough to get the person on her show.

    Hugs,
    Marcus

Thanks for the kind words about our post. They are appreciated! As for this "news" story, yea... we're on the same page with you. The only big deal is that people will gawk at the headline. Nothing medically surprising to it though.

Yes, you pretty much captured my sentiments on it! Nothing particularly newsworthy - especially medically. Just another sensationalist headline. Now here is something not published everyday, yet true - men are physiologically capable of lacataion. (Yeah, I know - you didn't want to know that!!) Lilly

  7. Eva,
That's the he whole thing - what is the big deal?

    Marcus,
I was a little surprised that Oprah had this show. If he had been born a man that would be news. This isn't.

    T & S,
That's all this is a way to sell papers and magazine.

    Lilly,
I had read that somewhere. Strange Nick didn't do any volunteering when our kids came!

    Terpsichore & Theresa,
Come on girls! When it is in People Magazine, and on GMA and Oprah you are supposed to be aware of it!! Oh well, just keep reading blogs you will find all the important stuff here!

  8. Ahh, here's the problem: Oprah is not a doctor! It is funny that anything on Oprah is considered to be the word of God. LOL. (If you're an Oprah fan, I apologize).

    Take Care,

  9. PK, excuse an ignorant Brit, but unless someone has changed the laws of nature, males don't have babies.
Yes I know that men can lactate, but what would the point be.
All the girls that I knew that breast fed, said they enjoyed it.
But rant away dear girl, I enjoy it.
    Love and warm hugs,
    Paul/

  12. Jessica,
I do admire Oprah but I am used to her stories at least being real stories and not just sensationalism.

No Paul we are not changing any laws of nature, but the people reporting this 'story 'seem to think so.

    David and Lilly,
I want to see that one!

  13. I had never heard of this until I read your post today. I'm now hoping that the press dies down - who wants to be that poor little kid in a few years? Is he going to be called a freak all his life? People should think about the potential consequences of publicizing something like that, especially when it will affect innocent babies.
    That's my rant, LOL.
