I have been a wife and mother for over twenty years. Now I am becoming my husband's lover, too.
We owe it all to my fellow bloggers who gave me the courage to come out to my husband as a spanko.
I do feel like this is a New Beginning for us.

Change has to come!

This is in no way on topic – it is however, important to me. I hate and despise change. Some people love it I’m sure but not me, never me. I think of my career. Once I got my teaching job I never left that school, I never left the sixth-grade, I never even left the classroom I went into the first day! And all that was fine by me!

But changes are coming. I have no choice. I guess I began this change a couple of weeks ago with the decision to silently compete with my sister for weight loss.  I joined Weight Watchers again. But I didn’t have the ‘I can do this!’ feeling. More like, ‘Yeah, I guess I can try again, maybe…’

Every medical problem I have would be greatly improved, if not wiped out, if I lost weight. And then yesterday one more was added. Now the doctor doesn’t like my bone density. I have an appointment to discuss possible medications next week. I’m sick of medicines! I take too many as it is. I looked it up and the first thing it said on each site was – exercise!

So, my day changes.  I like to do my writing in the morning from about nine until about one or two. But the plan now is to head to the gym by nine. And not occasionally as I’ve been doing, but five days a week. I have to get the weight down and the bones stronger. This is the easiest of the changes. Food choices will be next and I’ve already made some changes there.

First goal to lose ten pounds by the time I head off on vacation in June. I’ve made a reasonable start. I’ll let you know how it’s going.

  4. Hi PK ... I am one of those who does like change ... I like the renewal it brings. On the other hand I understand your pain re diet and exercise. Due to Frank's health, we have to watch what we eat so no choice there but the exercise thing ... groan! ... deciding to do it, however, is half the battle ... so you've got this ... go, girl! ... you're on your way! ... nj ... xx

  5. Hi PK change can be good. Just a word of advice take it easy at the gym, as I've hurt myself a few times doing things there. Do you have a pool at your gym, if so do aqua aerobics or hydro which is a gentler form. Don't rush in to do all the classes as you'll find it burns you out. Good luck! You can do it, stay positive. What about if you join fondles FFF challenge, its fun and we all give each other encouragement. Also learn off each other new tricks.

    1. You're right about all that Lindy. I general don't like classes. Mostly I'm on the elliptical. We have a pool here at the house that we'll be opening soon. That will help.

  8. Hey PK - Wish we lived near each other. I'd meet you at the gym. I think if you have a friend there, you're much more likely to succeed. Good luck embracing the gym and change. Just remember the change in clothing size. That could be a fun thing.

  9. I need to do the same. All winter I've played with the same four pounds. I'm active and busy but never in an "exercise way". I sooo need to be! I would so much prefer to sit on my rather wide behind and read a book!

  10. Change is difficult. I need to make some changes myself to get my weight down...I have always struggled with this as much as I try. I am happy to be a cheering section for you. Maybe we can motivate each other. You can do it! :-) Hugs

  11. I’m not much of a one for change either, PK. As Lindy said, do be careful in the gym, it’s easy to over do it. Resistance work with weights is good for bone density - you won’t end up looking like Arnie. See if your gym offers advice on a suitable regime. Aqua aerobics is a good choice too, as Lindy says. Whatever mix you choose, we’ll all be rooting for you!

    1. I'm trying to mix cardio, weight and balance/flexibility. I don't think you all have to worry about me overdoing it. There are people there who will help.

  12. PK,
I know many of us would rather not exercise, but it not only helps your physical health, but I think it improves my mental outlook as well.

I am not a "gym" goer. Much rather do my exercising at home watching the morning news and weather. My equipment is simple, but it suits me. Start with just 20 minutes.

Glad you decided on Weight Watchers to help, my friend. It is not a crazy fad, and you can adapt it to foods you really like.

  16. I agree with everyone else...you can do this, and it’s an important one. A routine will help, maybe add an outside walk into your day. The weather is nicer and it makes it easier. Good luck to you, I look forward to reading the updates.

    1. I will add in other things, but I'll work out ever day. We have some great walking parks and then our pool when it gets hot.

  17. PK, sorry if I am repeating what others have already said but haven't managed to catch up reading the comments.
I don't like change either. Get some advice and ask if there's a particular programme that they can suggest just tailored for your needs. We are all there rooting for you.

    Love,
