I have been a wife and mother for over twenty years. Now I am becoming my husband's lover, too.
We owe it all to my fellow bloggers who gave me the courage to come out to my husband as a spanko.
I do feel like this is a New Beginning for us.

Guess who I met

The end of the year is so close I can taste it! Nine more days with the kids, two workdays and I throw off my teacher disguise and become a full time writer for the summer. I can really get tons done when I have the house to myself for the day. I wrote over 14,000 words on the next book just over the Memorial Day weekend while Nick was away golfing.

I’m doing the A-Z challenge over at the Reading Room. It begins today and I’ll be posting over there every day this month – quite a challenge. Many others will be posting daily too and you can find their links there. I will be posting here at New Beginnings also, I’ll be here as long as anyone cares to come. But I’d also like to increase my readership there, so please stop by both blogs whenever you have the time.

As I posted the results of the MRI were just fine – no problems at all (had a mammogram done too and that was fine, so I’m heading into summer with those two test behind me.) But the original problem, the fact that I can’t hear worth crap out of my left ear still needs to be addressed.

The doctor said I looked like a good candidate for an implanted hearing aid. Does that mean I look rich? I’m not, and I do wonder what it would cost. He’s never used the words cochlear implant, but I’m wondering if it’s something like that. It’s attached to the skull and then you wear a device behind your ear, which can be taken off. It all seems interesting and I have an appointment to find out more in July. I’ll be googling it, but if any of you know anything about it, please let me know.

The best part of the doctor visit occurred with the nurse. The nurse was young, mid-twenties I’d guess. She took my temp and blood pressure and we talked a bit. I told her I’d be retiring in a few years and she asked what I’d do then. I told her I was a writer and I was looking forward to doing more writing.  She asked me what I wrote and I thought, heck she doesn’t know anyone I know, and I whipped out a card and gave it to her. It has the three covers on the back. She took it and looked at it carefully before slightly gasping, “Oh my God…” My first thought was that she may have see one of my blogs, when she stepped out from behind the laptop and held out her name tag, “Cassie”.

We both laughed. I told her my Cassie was much older, but she might enjoy her anyway. I always suggest to a vanilla that they go to Amazon and read the first chapter for free. It will give them the general flavor of the book and they can then decide if it’s for them.

Later as I was leaving she caught me in the hall and said she and the other nurses wanted to know where they could get the books and I told them. Many young people think they don’t like reading and so they don’t have a kindle, but they have phones and ipad so… I think I’m looking forward to my next visit. Will I see her again, will she say anything, will she be embarrasses, will I?

Not me – there are still things in this world that embarrass me, but not my writing. I have all of you to thank for that. You have truly built my confidence with all your comment and well wishes.  I do thank you for that very much.

  2. Hey PK...so happy your test results were all good. Don't know anything about an implanted hearing aid so can't help you there.

LOL...I love that you gave your card to the nurse and she and her friends were going to go read. That's really a good idea to send them to Amazon to read the first chapter. I've read some synopsis' of books and thought they were interesting but then when I read the first chapter, I realized it wasn't my cup of tea or realized I needed more asap. ;) Have you gotten any feedback from the cards? When I go to get my mammogram next month, I plan on taking a few and putting them in multiple magazines. ;) No one has taken the second card from the Walmart bulletin board but it looks as if it's been read a few times...different holes in the card.

Good luck on writing this summer...I love that all my friends are doing so well with their writing but at the same time, my TBR stack just keeps growing! LOL

    Hugs and Blessings...

    1. Thanks Cat, I'm still not quite to the point where I can tell a stranger that I write spanking fiction - but I can feel that coming. I don't want to shock them though. I love the first few chapters of Cassie's Space the first one to show it's truly a love story, but that it's also about spanking.

  3. Hi PK, I'm so happy to hear the test results were good. Sorry, I don't know anything about implanted hearing aids either.

Your conversation with 'Nurse Cassie' is both funny and awesome. Good on you gaving her the card. You should definitely be proud of you writing, as we are :) Good luck with writing over summer.

    Hugs

  4. What a relief for you have good test results. My dad wears two earing aids, both inside the ear, I don't know about implants, but they are probably better than devices wedged in your ear.
You're encounter with nurse Cassie, what a fun coincidence!

  5. PK,
what a nice coincidence, if she grows to be as nice as your Cassie she will be well worth knowing.
Good news about your scan, and I don't know anything about hearing aid implants either.
    Love and warm hugs,

  6. Super news on the scan. I heard something on the news about aid implants but can't actually remember too much about.

Loved hearing about your conversation with the nurse. I know she will love the books.

  8. I believe I have an uncle with a different type of hearing aid... I'll find out if it is an implant.
You are way more brave than I am. Maybe I need a few drinks to get my 'fearless' on!

    1. I think age plays a big part in it. After fifty you really, really don't worry too much about what other people think. I love it.

  10. Hi PK, :) I'm so glad that all your tests came back fine! Great news! :) Unfortunately I don't know anything about hearing aids and implants, etc. I hope that you get some good advice moving forward.

What a brave soul you are to talk about your book with the nurse. :) I think that it is awesome! You believe in yourself and your writing- and you love your characters. That kind of enthusiasm for what you write can show to vanilla folks and encourage them to check your books out. All good! Really cute that the nurse's name is Cassie! LOL! You must have wanted to LOL!

I'll gladly put some cards around for you. Let me know when you have a chance. Many hugs,

    <3 Katie

  11. Help! I go away for a week and the world turns without me!

I am glad your MRI and mammogram were fine. Personally I find mammograms hatefully painful and am convinced they flatten my boobs, which due to age, need no further flattening. As far as the deafness is concerned, my left ear is hopeless. I get tinnitus in it all the time. But I suspect it is all due to the extremely loud pop concerts I went to as a teenager to see groups like Led Zeppelin, Cream and the Who. I am now paying the price.

What are these 'cards' you are talking about? Why has everyone got some but me? Sulk. I do think you are brave handing them to your nurse at the clinic, though. Not sure I would dare to do that or not. But I do love reading about Cassie myself, so why not share her with others? So long as you don't leave your cards in phone boxes - LOL!

    Hugs
