I have been a wife and mother for over twenty years. Now I am becoming my husband's lover, too.
We owe it all to my fellow bloggers who gave me the courage to come out to my husband as a spanko.
I do feel like this is a New Beginning for us.

I’m having problems in bed

It happens to the best of us. Right now it’s happening to me. Nick and I have different bedtimes and there a little too far apart to change. Nick heads to bed, maybe to watch some TV or read – but he heads back between eight and eight thirty. I just can’t do that. I prefer go to bed around midnight. And while I wish we were on a closer schedule, this isn’t my problem.

By the time I do head to bed the house has cooled down for the night and by the time I’ve washed my face and brushed my teeth I sometimes feel like a block of ice. I enjoy sleeping in the nude and when I finally crawl into bed, and Nick instinctively curls around me in his sleep, the bliss I feel at that moment is as close to heaven as I expect to be in this lifetime. Sadly, it last about eight seconds and then my body temperature rises to about three hundred degrees Fahrenheit and I’m struggling to get away before I spontaneously combust.

It all evens out during the night and during the cold weather months we pretty much sleep curled together in the middle of the bed. Now I have been accused on occasion of rolling into the warm spot he leaves if he gets up to head to the bathroom, leaving him about six inches of mattress room when he returns – I flatly deny this, it never happens. But he tells me a shove rolls me back to my side of the middle and all is well.

Unfortunately, my problems in bed don’t stop there. We have three cats – that’s enough said for cat lovers, but for those of you who don’t understand, cats will have the warmest, most comfortable place in the house to sleep.

Evidently that is exactly where my feet need to be or between Nick and me. Nope! Once my body temperature settles I want to be right up against Nick. Our cats, however, don’t seem to be good at taking hints and it seems to be a constant struggle. Then when Nick gets up in the morning and I could use the extra warmth in the bed they go with him to sit on his lap as he eats breakfast. Oh well…

If you have any solutions, I could us them. That is other than the one my sister – a cat hater – suggested, when I complained to her she said simply, “There’s a shot that will fix that.” Thankfully the cats didn’t hear her.

*I may not have problems tonight – I’m stay up to see who wins and I’m praying while I wait.

  1. LOL PK...no suggestions. Had this problem, especially with Matthew... I swear, he was a blast furnace. Just rolled away from him once I warmed up. My cats don't get along that well with one another so I usually only have one cat in my bed at a time. I do have one cat that loves to get under the covers in cold weather...right where my feet want to go when I stretch out...amazing how quickly I wake up with all those claws in my feet!

    Hugs and blessings...Cat

    1. I'm glad mine stay on top the covers. Underneath would be rough.

  2. We can't have our cats sleeping with us,Feisty gets bored and starts knocking things over. Zo(rro)is pretty good but ZeeZee and Pico move around too much. I'm the furnace in our house too, always have been even before menopause,I take after my mom that way. My husband knows if I put on a sweater,it is either cold or I'm not feeling good, and then he checks my head with his hand. :)

    1. I'm cold sitting around after supper, wrapped in a blanket with a cat on my legs and a computer on my lap. Then around 9 o'clock I'm ready to turn on the fan and get everything off me. Strange, I'm way past menopause.

  3. LoL PK, the title sure got my attention. I wondered what I was going to read lol.

We are both pretty much night owls. Rick used to be like a furnace, which I loved as I am usually always cool. However, since his surgery it's often the other way round now. Go figure?

As for cats, we have two, one of which just has to sleep on the bed with us. I often find myself wrapped around her in whatever space is left!

  4. Hi Pk, I have a lovely electric blanket, the cat died, and I go to bed first and establish my territory, lol. Seriously, no ideas unless you go to bed with Nick and entice him away from his book,

  5. Hi PK. I'm the hot one in our bed. Bear has an electric blanket on most of the night. I toss and turn throwing all the bed clothes off as I over heat. We go to bed at the same time, so can't offer a solution there and our bedroom is an animal free zone. Just our space.

  6. Sorry, no suggestions, Harry and I go to bed round about the same time, handy in the winter when he acts as my own personal heating pad. I miss having a cat on our bed, sadly we lost ours a couple of years ago.
On this side of the Pond we should get the election result during Wednesday morning; fingers crossed for the right result, it still looks too close from over here.

    1. Harry has been listening to the exit polls on the radio. One woman said she had no time for Trump so was voting for an independent - because she didn't think God would want a woman in the White House...

    2. I wonder why this woman believes God made sub-par humans? Some folks 'be crazy'!

  7. Hi there,
I giggled reading this as we have had similiar issues here. The pets are now banned and for the most part our children stay in their own beds. I have been told I am a blanket hog, but he regularly sheds the blanket due to being hot. So, I am no help, sorry!

  8. PK,
We recently declared our bed a dog-free zone, and I am loving it. I am the one who goes to bed early to read, and I am the one that is always freezing. Sam says my hands and feet are cruel and unusual punishment.

    1. Gently but firmly train the cats to stay off the bed.
    2. If God meant us to sleep in the nude, he would not have invented winter.
    3. Tell Nick you will turn the heat down when you come to bed.
    4. Husbands are useful in bed for a wide variety of reasons. Warming you up on a cold night is his marital duty. How he chooses to do that is up to him.

    2. 1. I like the cats on the bed, within reason.
2.Winter or summer I want Nick's hands on me, not flannel.
      3 I could try that.
4.If he wasn't so deeply asleep when I come to bed.

  9. Oh you poor thing, PK! You need some good sleep! LOL! I have the opposite problem lately... I go to bed earlier than Rob almost every night. Lately, I have been sound asleep, nice and warm, all cozy in our bed, nude and under the covers. Rob comes to bed late and scoops me up. He has been like an ice cube!!! Of course I squeal and complain, and then settle in... and temperatures regulate themselves. Then Rob becomes a heat source, and I move way over to my side! No matter how you look at it, it seems to always be one thing or another. So, I am no help! LOL!

We don't let our cat in our bedroom. He has a nice little bed, just outside our bedroom door, and by morning, he has made his way to there, and is waiting nicely for me to come out and get his breakfast! Though sometimes he is not waiting so nicely and meows loud enough to wake the dead! LOL!

As you can see, I am no help whatsoever! Sorry about that! I could use some myself! :D You have some good suggestions above however! :) Many hugs, and wishes for peaceful sleeps, sent your way,

    <3 Katie

    PK,
When we had a cat, sweet cat, the cat made too much noise. Purring, taking a bath, etc.
Advice....... Jack comes to bed later and tucking in time is always sweet. He scoops me up when he comes to bed and sometimes I brush that man away, but sometimes he heats me right up. So have the scoop up talk with Nick. Say that he can always go right back to sleep.

    1. I guess I've slept with a cat on my bed for most of my life. But I do not like them between us! Sadly Nick has always had a hard time sleeping and I try to be mindful of that.

Hi PK. I am like you and also feel the cold in the evenings - living in Scotland doesn't help lol. I always try to have a bath before bed so that my body temperature is up a bit as I like to sleep naked as well. We also have a memory foam mattress with a coolmax cover which keeps a constant temperature so it never feels really warm or really cold on the skin. We don't have cats, so I can't help there I'm afraid! missy

  13. We sleep with 2 dogs the size of cats! I love them but they love to get between us! Grrrrr! My Scotsman pulls them to the outer sides and rushes to spoon me!
At night lately I'm a furnace, he's been feeling cold. As we cuddle we both sigh. I love taking advantage of his icy cold body and he loves my 'hot' bod! Snort!
I bet things will rectify in a short time for you! Maybe December?

  15. I know about the cat thing - I used to have two of them. Also, our Sunny Girl loved to sleep stretched out across the bed between the two of us and she would press on us if we got too close.
As for the returns - I have more than one work but YUCK will do.

  16. My hubby usually falls asleep on the couch...I head to bed around 10:30...my feet are freezing until I warm up into my own furnace...hubby may join when he wakes and then proceeds to wake me up since I am a light sleeper and he may snuggle up next to me if there is space...no cats only a small human who hogs the covers and the bed...and when (if) I fall back to sleep I tend to get overheated and have to stick one foot out from under the covers...and then get cold again in the early hours of the morning and have to snuggle up again (and I am not in menopause yet - this is just how I always have been) :-) Sorry no advice... Hugs
