I have been a wife and mother for over twenty years. Now I am becoming my husband's lover, too.
We owe it all to my fellow bloggers who gave me the courage to come out to my husband as a spanko.
I do feel like this is a New Beginning for us.

Checking in

I wanted to take a minute let you know how things are going here. The reunion was wonderful! There were about twenty-five here Saturday and Sunday and then about sixteen of us headed another cousin’s lake house. Such a beautiful house – it just has such a feeling of relaxation and and peace. Many of us were in the kitchen Tuesday morning, trying to be quiet, because my oldest cousin was still sleeping in the bedroom next door. Of course we did get loud on and off and when my cousin came out we apologized for waking her. I love her answer, she said, “There is nothing better to wake to than the sound of your family laughing and talking.”

I just love that we all get along so well. Not a fuss, not a cross word, how strange. I do have one cousin, well he’s married to my cousin, and according to Facebook we disagree on nearly everything. Certainly about politics! Yet we were able to spend four days together with neither of us feeling the need to discuss our differences.

Here's the view from our bedroom this year.

And this porch is my favorite place in the whole house. When Cassie and Sue are talking on the porch, this is where they are.

Mollie’s back from her trip out west. She had a great time and Monday she heads to New York City to visit LJ and Colin before coming to join us in Cancun. Nick and I are heading out Wednesday morning and we’ll have three full days to ourselves. Not too bad.

I had a little surprise just before we went to pick Mollie up at the airport. I was startled to see Nick come into the living room with Blondie’s paddle. What had I done? Well he told me. After doing great on my weight loss once I found out I had diabetes I’ve really let it slip some since I broke my foot way back in the spring. I was in a holding pattern, but I’ve going up just a little the past three weeks. The paddle was to get my attention before things got out of hand. I seriously appreciate it. I don’t want to start gaining and lose all my hard work. I know how some feel about spanking for gaining, but I know Nick well enough to embrace this. I know what I have to do to lose, I know what I’ve let slip in the past few months and I know how to change it. He knows I know that too. Now in another fifteen or twenty pounds it might be harder to lose and I know he’ll readjust then. Right now I have few excuses.

There is one scary threat he whipped out today. There is a number we have agreed I will not go above again in this life! I’m in full agreement, but I’m close. He says if I go over it the cane comes out. Okay, seriously, he has my attention. But… Cancun… it’s all inclusive. You can eat and drink all you want. It’s a vacation and I’m not going to deprive myself, but maybe, just maybe I won’t go crazy. I really hate that cane!

I plan to have a new Fantasy Friday story up for Friday and we’ll be back next Sunday. Monday I head back to school. But I’ll check in when we get back.

Weight and diabetes are very serious and Nick is certainly right to focus your attention. Have a great time in Cancun and watch out for buffet. :) See you Friday.

    1. Buffets are killers! I want my money's worth, but not the gain that could come with it.

  3. I had a long message typed and it disappeared. Your family reunion sounds wonderful PK. Now when I read about Cassie and Sue chatting I'll picture that porch, looks really nice. Be careful on your trip to Cancun you don't want to end it by a taste of the cane. Nick has certainly got your health in mind though. Have a fun time away.

    1. The reunion was wonderful! This is definitely Cassie's porch, now her deck is on another cousin's house. I'll show you that another day. I know we'll have fun.

  4. I'm so glad the reunion was fun! Love those views at the lake house! Peace!
I know how you feel about the weight! I've let myself go a bit too!
One thing I do when there's a buffet.... I eat a bunch of fresh veg and cooked veg then maybe a tiny bit of the other stuff. It helps me not feel deprived.
    Have fun though!

    1. The porch is fantastic! Can I have my fresh fruit in liquid form - daiquiri or a margarita.

    PK,
Let's all have a nice cool drink on that porch and think about eating only the good stuff. Those all-inclusive places are the best and worst at the very same time. Have a great time.

    1. I've had a few margarita's on that porch. This all-inclusive includes drinks. What am I going to do?

  7. I think Nick should give you 2 days for each day of your vacation to lose any vacation gain... that way ... well... you know.

    1. He says he would be agreeable to something like that. As long as I jump on it the minute we get home.

  8. I can't say I am sorry about the use of the paddle, lol. I am so glad that the reunion was wonderful. The picture you have of the porch is pretty much how I pictured the one Cassie has. I will bet you will be in Cancun soon.

  9. Happy the reunion went well.

Oh I want a house with a porch like that and same as Blondie it's how I pictured the one Cassie and Tom has.

Have fun in Cancun. East plenty of the good for you stuff.

    1. Cassie lives in a combinations of 2 of my cousin's homes. I can picture it so well in my mind. Cancun eating is for sure but it's going to be too hot to do much walking. I'll try swimming.

  10. So good to hear how you are doing. I am so glad you had such a lovely time with your family. You sound so happy and I am happy for you! :-) I love the view and the porch is perfect - I shall picture it now whenever I imagine the ladies getting together and stirring up mischief. :-) I have completely lost control of my eating and need to get back on the right track and soon before I gain all that I lost. So I understand. And I am glad your man is there to support you in keeping your goal. Have a great trip. Safe travels. Hugs

    1. Being around family is great for me! My eating should be more controlled once I get back to school - but what does that predict for retirement?

  11. PK, so glad you had such a wonderful reunion. Thanks for the lovely pictures, too. That porch really is a storybook setting. I can just picture the wine and glasses on the table.

I wholeheartedly agree about the benefits of a good diet coach. I have often thought of how I would explain ttwd at a Weight Watchers meeting.

    1. Wouldn't that be a hoot! Someone asks, "How have you lost so much?" and we answer, "I'm not sure if it's my husband's belt or his cane."

  12. Glad you had a lovely time with your family, that beach house looks lovely. Good on Nick stepping in to help. You've said you respond better to the stick than the carrot, just make sure you don't go far enough to earn an appointment with a real stick rather than the metaphorical one. The thing to remember with all inclusive is everything in moderation. Have fun!

    1. I do love visiting at that house. You're right, I hope Nick was serious about the stick but I hope he doesn't have to ever use it.
