I survived the vacation. It’s fun being with Nick, I always enjoy
myself when we go off together, just us two. But Nick and I have two completely
different definitions of the word vacation. When I think of vacation I picture
lounging by a beautiful body of water – pool, or lake, or ocean. There’s an icy
drink close by my side and and a Kindle in my hands (this picture is exactly how I look, of course). I think of delicious meals
and gentle walks alone the the beach and snuggling with my husband in a comfortable
bed.
Nick on the other hand feels vacations are for seeing and
doing and being active. Which is why two years ago we nearly killed ourselves
riding scooters in Florida and why last year his suggestion of, “Let’s walk
down and see the water fall” nearly killed me. This time I think it was his
plan to walk me to death. I have a fitbit. When I have a day just for myself to
stay home and write I might get in 1,000 steps. On an average work day, I usually
get in between 4,000 and 5,000 steps and if I really try to get in all the
steps I can maybe 7,000. On the two full day we were on vacation I got 15,512 steps
on the first day and 11,094 steps on the next. Lets just say my feet, ankles, calves
and thighs will never be the same!
All that is true, but seriously we had a wonderful time. Not
too much relaxing but lots of fun and great food. We saw a wonderful old fort
and two different wild life parks. We did walk along the beach and we slept in
a wonderfully comfortable bed – but it was a king. We’re not used to that and
we nearly couldn’t find one another! I think we’ll stick with our queen.
Nick had slipped one of my favorite paddles into his
suitcase and we did find time for it to come out for a little play time one
day.
I just wanted to say hey to everyone and let you know we’re
back. More later and I’ll let you know what was going on at home while we were
gone.
Welcome home, PK. Your idea of a vacation is very similar to mine...lots of sleeping in, laying around, good books and yummy food. Of course, there is a part of me that does like to sight see a bit. ;)
ReplyDeleteHugs and blessings...Cat
I do like to see things too as long as there is lots of relaxing in-between.
DeleteHello PK!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you had a nice trip. I'm envious of:
a. getting to vacation with just your husband
b. the beach, the parks, the walks
c. a huge comfy snuggling bed
d. a little spanky panky
e. all of the above
I choose E! Good for you. :)
Amy
I was pretty happy with all the above too!
DeleteHi PK, I look like that too!! We are currently looking at holiday brochures, to be honest, we both want relaxing this time. We usually "do" stuff and I always want to come home early. We are thinking maybe Italy......
ReplyDeleteI am glad you survived, I reckon you must be getting so much fitter , just in time for retirement,:)
love Jan, xx
I hope you're right about me being fitter - I'm hoping. But with you and I both looking like that picture we can't get much better. I hope you pick a wonderful place and have a great time.
DeleteHi PK, I'm glad you and Nick had such a good time away, it sounds wonderful :) I agree with Jan too, you must be getting fitter.
ReplyDeleteMy idea of a vacation would probably be a bit of a mix of both your ideas.
Hugs
Roz
I'd like a little more resting, but I like seeing things too.
DeleteWelcome home. Happy you had fun. I like to relax but I also like to see sights when away.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Ronnie
xx
Traveling with my parents we saw EVERYTHING - no resting!
DeleteGlad you had a good time PK. Harry and I like both kinds of holidays. We usually take short breaks for sightseeing and longer ones for relaxing.
ReplyDeleteRosie xx
That sounds about right.
DeleteI love your idea of a vacation...Master is more of the ..we need to check out all these new places type. That is a lot of steps, yeah for you.
ReplyDeletehugs abby
The steps must have helped. We ate well but I didn't gain any weight.
DeleteI like to relax but love doing things on a vacation. Now on a staycation I love lazy long mornings sleeping in until at least 7:30! Lol! Then reading and drawing as much as I want!
ReplyDeleteThe walking sounds great! Just think how far you've come! Amazing!
We have a pool at home so I guess Nick thinks we should do different things on vacation.
DeleteGlad you had a fun time. I haven't synced my fitbit in a while but I have a couple of those too. So glad youhad a good time.
ReplyDeleteI like to see how much my friends are walking - get synced!
DeleteWe are just back from a road trip ourselves. We saw just what we wanted to see, and I enjoyed every minute with my husband.
ReplyDeleteSam would not sit around a pool if his life depended on it. But I am planning some of that for summer! My favorite auntie used to say, "It beats working," always with a giggle.
Glad you had such a good time with your Nick. You deserved this one, PK.
Ella
I'm looking forward to hearing about your trip. I've got relaxing planned for my next trip. But I really enjoyed myself with Nick.
DeleteLOL i typically get about 5000 on a regular no-exercise day, about 7000 if i'm out doing groceries, and on walking days i try to make sure i get my 10000 :)
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile, I think BIKSS and I travel well together, we seldom laze about the pool and such cos I'm a "feel the buzz, see the markets" kinda vacationer. But if I'm at a beach then it's a different story. I'll be happy to lie on the sand all day.
I need to get more steps most days, but not 15,000!
DeleteSounds like a wonderful time! I agree with the king size bed. Just too big. You have to roll and roll to find him, lol
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Clara
Seriously! When it's cold I think Nick and I would be fine in a twin - but when it heat up I do need some more space.
Deleteso glad you had a wonderful time :-)
