Welcome to Saturday Spankings! Today’s snippet is from Suspicions on the River. Jenny woke with a terrible hangover and gives Cassie a call. She and Cassie talk as she waits for Cal to come home. It’s only then that she hears about Pat’s apartment being trashed.
“How much did you have to drink? I don’t think I’ve ever seen you have more than a couple of beers at the most.”
“I don’t know,” Jenny moaned. “I remember Cal coming home, but not much after that. He left a note telling me he’s going to spank me over all this.” She let Cassie read the note.
Cassie patted her hand but offered no comment. Instead, she asked, “But why, what got you drinking like that?”
She wet a cloth and squeezed it out before handing it to Jenny. “I overheard Pat and her friends at the Vintage,” Jenny explained. “She was telling them how our marriage is on the rocks and we fight all the time. She basically told them she was just waiting for us to call it quits so she can swoop in.”
“Oh, good grief!” Cassie spat out. “Maybe you do deserve a good spanking! Why are you letting that woman get to you? She means nothing to Cal. You’re his whole world. You have to get a grip.”
“What would you do if some woman was determined to have Tom?” Jenny asked angrily.
“I’ve done many stupid things over the years when I was jealous. And I’ve felt the ivory brush because of those choices. I’m just hoping you aren’t as slow a learner as I was. Oh, honey,” Cassie murmured. She hugged Jenny tightly as the girl began sobbing. “It’s gonna be okay. I promise.”
~~
Jenny stood at the glass door looking down toward the river when Cal walked in. As often happened when he saw his wife, he felt overwhelmed with his love for her. He just wanted to touch her, kiss her, hold her. He didn’t want to spank her unless it was for their mutual pleasure. But it was crazy that she had drunk so much last night. And what if… his mind flashed back to Pat’s trashed apartment, but he didn’t let it linger there. Not now.
“Hey,” Jenny said softly, turning toward him.
“Hey,” he answered. “How you feeling?”
“Better, but not so great. I guess you’re pretty mad.”
“I am,” he answered. But he didn’t sound angry. “You drank a lot Jenny, enough to be dangerous. What I want to know is why?”
With a sigh Jenny told him all she had overheard Pat and her friends saying the day before.
Cal gave her an intense look. Finally, he asked, “You heard all this yesterday at lunch?”
Jenny nodded.
“I guess you were pretty pissed,” Cal said, looking at her keenly.
“Yeah, you might say so,” she answered.
Cal hated where his mind was going. His beautiful, fiery wife hearing all that… could she have? Would she have?
“Cal? What is it?” she asked. “You’ve got a weird look on your face.”
“Do you remember what I told you about Pat last night?” Cal wanted to know.
“No,” Jenny said coldly. “I don’t remember us talking about her. What?”
“Her apartment was broken into yesterday afternoon and trashed.”
They stood staring at one another as Jenny absorbed the information. As realization dawned on her, it was as though fire shot from her eyes.
“And you think I did it? You son-of-a-bitch!”
“I never said that. I…” Cal began.
Jenny’s cold anger seemed worse to Cal than when she’d been yelling and throwing things at him. “I never went near that bitch’s apartment. I don’t even know where it is. And you should know that without me having to tell you. Maybe she trashed it herself just to have a reason to call you. Did you ever think of that?”
When Cal went to Jenny and pulled her into a tight embrace she burst into tears. “I know you didn’t do it. I believe you. But my job means I have to think of everything from the obvious to the ridiculous.”
All the fight seemed to leave Jenny, as she pressed herself against Cal. “I guess I might have done it if I’d thought about it,” Jenny admitted, only half kidding. “What I did was go running. I ran for over five miles then I came home and started drinking. And I don’t think you should spank me for it.”
Cal was surprised that she was calming down so quickly. “You don’t think you deserve a spanking for downing more than a six-pack by yourself?”
“No, I don’t. Now if I start doing it once a week, maybe. But once every four or five years…”
Cal let go, stepping out onto the porch and put out the privacy flag. He didn’t expect Ryder at lunchtime, but he didn’t want the boy walking in on anything. Going back in, he took Jenny’s hand and led her to the bedroom.
I won't be around next week. Nick and I are traveling out to the wild west for a while. Hope you'll come by on the 13th.
Suspicions on the River,
Book Three
(a Cassie’s family story)
Cal and Jenny have a nearly idyllic marriage. There are rare trips across his lap for minor problems, but most of those trips are just for fun. Could that be changing? Pat, Cal’s former lover, has moved back to town and she wouldn’t mind giving it another try with Cal. She feels he can’t be serious about this little twit that he married so quickly. Pat feels that once Cal realizes she offers him a better option, he’ll choose her. But soon mysterious things begin happening to Pat. Is someone trying to run her out of town? Could that someone be Jenny?
Cassie and the whole river family try to keep Jenny occupied and out of trouble, but suspicions just go from bad to worse. Both Jenny and Pat want Cal and they’re willing to fight for him. How dirty will this fight get?
These ten books introduce Cassie. She is my friend and has been since she wandered into my imagination fifty-four years ago. She is married to Tom, the man who loves her in a way that makes my heart nearly burst with happiness for the two of them. He loves her, guides her, protects her and when necessary, spanks the fool out of her. I’ve been told that their adventures are exciting, funny and realistic. Their love-life is passionate and fulfilling – but you’ll hear no graphic details, Cassie is a lady and giving too much detail would not be proper.
Cal’s Law series
Cal and Jenny are one of my younger couple. The spanking in their relationship began mere minutes after they met, and Cal hasn’t let up much since. There relationship has it’s struggles, but these two are meant to be together. They live in the same town as Cassie and Tom and there is a lot of interactions among the character of both series. Jenny is not as reluctant as Cassie to openly discuss her sex life, so you’ll find a little more spice in this series.
On the River series
In this, my latest series, everyone is around – all the characters I’ve grown to love over the years are living on the area of the river that they call The Landing. Their lives, their adventures, even their spankings sometimes intertwine. By this time in the series, I’m just typing as my characters tell me what’s happening. And I love it!
I’ll close today with a review on the latest book. This is one of the finest reviews I’ve ever had.
Starting with the first Cassie book until now, I have never been disappointed or failed to wait expectantly for the next one.
