I’ve used this blog as my online diary for close to twenty years now. It’s seen many changes, from LJ being in college to him moving to New York City and marrying Collin. It’s seen Mollie go from a middle schooler to a teacher and homeowner. I enjoy looking back at the history here.
Another piece of my history is happening now and I thought I would go ahead and put it out here. Last month I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Tomorrow I’m going in for a lumpectomy and then we’ll see what happens next. Most of the doctors I’ve spoken with seem to think I’ll have some radiation, but they don’t think I’ll need chemo. Like I said, we’ll see what they say after they do more testing once the lumpectomy is done.
Surprisingly, at least to me, is that I didn’t panic when I heard the C-word. I always thought I would. But now it just seems like something I’ll have to get through. Research has made great strides in the past twenty years, thankfully. And I hope to be the beneficiary of all this good work.
It’s funny since I retired, I usually have nothing special planned day to day for nearly 360 days a year. But there are five days when I’m quite busy. It’s when my sister and I take our books to the local craft shows. Unfortunately, this weekend is the first of those shows. That’s only two days after my surgery. But I’m determined to go. So, if you can send out good thoughts, energy or prayers (I really like prayers) I’d appreciate it.
And don’t forget to come by Saturday, I already have my Saturday Spanking ready to go. I think it’s one of the most interesting conversations in my On the River series.

Hi PK,
ReplyDeleteI was shocked when I heard the news and hate that you are going through this. You are right, research has made good strides. Sending positive thoughts and prayers for the surgery and results. I really hope too that you are able to attend the craft show.
Hugs
Roz

ReplyDeleteThank you for your prayers.

I do appreciate all you thoughts and prayers and I feel like I'm doing very well.
DeleteOh PK, that's sad news. But I'm pleased that you are up and well. You are correct, medicine has advanced so much, and radiation will put a stop to any nasties invading other parts of your body.
ReplyDeleteI'm sending you healing thoughts and prayers and trust you will be fit enough to enjoy the craft fair.
Hugs,
Hermione
Thanks for coming by Hermione. Thank you so much for your prayers - I know they help! Off to the craft show in about an hour and so far I'm feeling fine.
