“When we got back to the hotel we all gathered in Annie and Andy’s room – neutral territory, I suppose. Steve suggested we just head on home.
“‘Why?’ Sue and I asked at the same time. ‘We can’t go! You all have a presentation in the morning,’ Sue told them, although it was pretty obvious Sue and I would be needing to stay out of sight.
“Tom was really upset. He said something like ‘You two just tried to kill each other and you’re worried about our presentation? Tell us what happened. I want to know and I want to know now.’”
Cassie sat up straight and told her listeners, “I looked Tom straight in the eye and said, ‘I’m not going to tell you,’ He looked both angry and baffled as Sue reached over and took my hand.”
“I told them the same thing,” Sue chimed in. “And we drew Annie in, asking her if she’d promise too.”
“I didn’t really want to keep it from Andy but promised along with Sue and Cassie.”
Cassie was coming out of her story-telling reverie and saw that once again she was holding Sue and Annie’s hands. She gave them each a squeeze, then laughed as she looked at her audience. Their eyes were big as saucers. They’d obviously been enthralled.
Allie found her voice first, “Mom, I cannot believe you and Sue could fight like that. You broke her nose? I…” The child truly seemed astounded. Lily still sat with her mouth open, saying nothing.
“How long did Tom let you get away with not telling him the reason?” Jenny wanted to know.
Cassie smiled at her. “I’ve never told him. None of us have,” she glanced at the women and got a nod of confirmation. “They rarely ask anymore. I can understand their curiosity. One minute we were best friends, the next enemies in vicious combat, then with not one word spoken, back to loving one another. Yes, they have to have been bewildered. I suppose we could tell them now. It wouldn’t matter anymore. But somehow, I like the bond of just us girls knowing. I’m not even sure why we told you all. I guess it’s just that we’re family now and I trust you all not to tell the boys. Don’t even tell them you heard the story.”
“Law, it’s a wonder Mr. Tom let you get ‘way with not tellin’. If I’d walked in and see somethin’ like that, I’d had to know what got you two fightin’,” Lily finally spoke up. “How you two make up without talkin’?”
Sue laughed. “That’s just what the girls were asking earlier. We just seemed to understand one another at that moment. I think we both felt in our minds back then, that the other one had actually started the fight. I think we feel that way still,” Sue told them, looking over at Cassie who nodded.
“I guess we both felt we’d been justified in the fight and that it was over,” Cassie added. “Of course, the irony of the whole thing wasn’t lost on us either. I mean, Sue beating the crap out of me for not leaving a man she was worried was beating the crap out of me. If that’s not irony, nothing is.
“I think Sue was scared for me – I guess she’d worried a bit ever since the cruise. And that day, being hung over, and realizing that she’d been at least part of the reason I’d been in trouble with Tom in the first place, she just let her fear take over. Sue always gets mad when she’s worried or scared.”
“I was scared,” Sue agreed. “I didn’t like it for years after, but that day… I don’t know, maybe it was because I was hung over. I knew how bad I was feeling and I was sure that Cassie had to have a major headache too. Then to see her hurting when she sat – I just lost it. I’ve calmed down over the years. I suppose Tom does have his good points,” she admitted, grudgingly.
“Ya think?” Cassie asked, laughing.
Storytime was over. Allie got up, came over to give Cassie a kiss. “I love you, Mom. I can’t wait until they make a movie of your life. I hope they pick someone amazing to play your daughter-in-law.”
Cassie’s Space series
These ten books introduce Cassie. She is my friend and has been since she wandered into my imagination fifty-four years ago. She is married to Tom, the man who loves her in a way that makes my heart nearly burst with happiness for the two of them. He loves her, guides her, protects her and when necessary, spanks the fool out of her. I’ve been told that their adventures are exciting, funny and realistic. Their love-life is passionate and fulfilling – but you’ll hear no graphic details, Cassie is a lady and giving too much detail would not be proper.
Cal’s Law series
Cal and Jenny are one of my younger couple. The spanking in their relationship began mere minutes after they met, and Cal hasn’t let up much since. There relationship has it’s struggles, but these two are meant to be together. They live in the same town as Cassie and Tom and there is a lot of interactions among the character of both series. Jenny is not as reluctant as Cassie to openly discuss her sex life, so you’ll find a little more spice in this series.
On the River series
In this, my latest series, everyone is around – all the characters I’ve grown to love over the years are living on the area of the river that they call The Landing. Their lives, their adventures, even their spankings sometimes intertwine. By this time in the series, I’m just typing as my characters tell me what’s happening. And I love it!
I’ll close today with a review on the latest book. This is one of the finest reviews I’ve ever had.
Starting with the first Cassie book until now, I have never been disappointed or failed to wait expectantly for the next one.

Love this PK! I would love to see the movie too. Gotta love Allie's comment lol. Hmm, I wonder who would play Cassie. Meryl Streep perhaps?

Wouldn't a movie be wonderful! Meryl Streep would do great. But I've always seen Ellen Bernstein as Cassie. I'll post my vision of both Cassie and Tom on Monday.
DeleteEllen Bernstein would make an excellent Cassie. Great snippet and perfect conclusion, PK!
ReplyDeleteThanks! All fights should end as quickly.
