I have been a wife and mother for over twenty years. Now I am becoming my husband's lover, too.
We owe it all to my fellow bloggers who gave me the courage to come out to my husband as a spanko.
I do feel like this is a New Beginning for us.

Up dates on this, that and the other

I had a wonderful LOL day. I could tell by by stats that many people stopped by and I am very happy to say that I heard from twelve friends. This was either their very first time comment or they had only commented once or twice before over the years. I thank those twelve sincerely and I really hope that they will be back and comment more often.

On the retirement front, I have seventeen teaching days left. I told
my students last Friday that I’d be retiring at Christmas. They were surprised and some seemed sad. Many were kind enough to tell me they wanted me to stay and that I was their favorite teacher. Not always true, but they were being sweet. I think my favorite comment of the day was what one student told my partner, “I hope they get someone just like Ms. PK as her replacement. You know, someone basically nice, but a little sassy.”

On the diabetic front, one part is going well. My blood sugar is doing pretty well. It’s staying mostly between eighty and one hundred twenty. The doctor is please with that, but I’m not losing any weight. I plan to join a gym soon so hopefully I’ll have better news on the weight loss soon.

And finally on the fire front, the news isn’t good at all. Over 10,000 acres are burning and the poor over worked firefighters just aren’t able to make much progress.  The fires themselves aren’t near us, but the smoke! The smoke is really bad at times. Friday afternoon was the worst yet. The smoke was really thick when I came out of school and there was so much ash in the air. Today was much better here, but that was because the wind was blowing hard and whipping the smoke away. But you can imagine what that wind is doing to the fire itself. The overall air quality in this part of the state is in the danger zone. No outside activities are allowed at school. That includes everything from recess to football games. That doesn’t effect my classes too much, but Mollie is feeling the loss of recess keenly! There is no relief in sight. Not a drop of rain and none in the forecast. And I’m worried that it’s even worse where Katie’s son is. So please keep praying we get some rain.

  1. Congrats on the new friends commenting, PK. I'm sure your students are going to miss you...so excited for you. Good news on the blood sugar and I'm sure the weight will come down for you.

So sorry that they haven't got the fires under control yet. Sending prayers and positive energy for the all impacted.

Sending lots of positive thoughts that some Aussies come out of hiding for you. ;)

    Hugs and blessings...Cat

  2. Hi PK, I'm so glad you enjoyed LoL and that some new friends said hello, that is awesome :)

Wow, seventeen days and on the countdown. So happy for you! I'm not surprised at the reaction from your students and the comment made by one to your partner made me giggle.

That is great news on the blood sugar, I'm sure the weight will also come down.

Sorry the fires are not under control yet, how scary! Positive thoughts for all those impacted and for rain.

    Hugs

    1. I'm pleased with the blood sugar. I might even do a little more cooking once I retire - MIGHT I said. I've been collecting some good (good for you) recipes.

  3. So happy for you that your retirement is almost here PK. Your students are so sweet, I'm sure you are a fantastic teacher and they'll all miss you.
As for your losing weight I wouldn't waste money on a gym. Just go for daily walks once you retire. Well done on your blood sugar levels.

LOL day was so much fun, good you had new readers stop by. I did also but no Aussies.

Hoping and praying your fires are under control quickly. Must be terrible with all the smoke around.

    Hugs Lindy x

    1. I don't live in a good place to walk and it's going to be cold for the next five months. I may join a gym for those months and see how I do.

There are spankos I talked to in Australia - I remember one named Dove. But it' been a while.

  5. Hi PK! :) Looks like you had a great response to LOL Day! I see that you let Cassie on the loose. She was up to some mischief over at my place! She is something else!!!

I'm so happy for you regarding your retirement! Very exciting times ahead. Lots of writing time too. I loved what your student said to your team teacher, about a replacement. Very funny and cute! There is no doubt in my mind that you have been a wonderful, wonderful teacher. The stories that you tell about your teaching, always move me- those kids have been lucky to have you over the years!

Good for you about keeping your sugar count in check! That is so important. The gym... I could use a little of that myself these days. I have been a bit of a couch potato lately. Perhaps we can egg each other on! Keep up the good work!

The fires! :( I speak with my son each day, either via phone or text. He says that things are okay where he is. Yesterday the smoke seemed less. I told him that is was perhaps the wind direction. He misses being able to be outside, but knows that indoors is where he needs to be. There are no fires in his immediate area, thankfully. There are so many wonderful people, working hard to put those fires out, and keep people safe! I can't imagine how tough that is. I am so grateful! I am glad that you and Mollie are safe. I can only imagine having a class of little ones confined to indoors! Mollie has her hands full! All of you are in my thoughts and prayers! Stay safe!
I sure do hope that rain comes along!

I hope that you have a nice, relaxing Sunday! Many hugs and love,

    <3 Katie

    1. Cassie confessed to me she'd been up to no good - and I have to tell you she was laughing about it.

I feel retirement is going to be fun. I plan on being on "vacation" until LJ and Colin come early in January and then it's to work as a full time writer and part time house cleaner outer!

      Rain has to come sometime.

  7. Hi PK,
Great news on the retirement front. Only 17 days to go....but who's counting. Like Lindy I think that a gym is a complete waste of money; your blood sugars are a clear indication that the diet is under control, so a 20 minute walk per day is usually enough. Diet and walking (and more recently an exercise bike) was enough for me to loose 17Kg (35 pounds) in the first 3 months of retirement.
I hope they get the fires under control soon. We aussies know the devastating effect of wild fires...I will do a rain dance for you. Stay safe!

    1. I wouldn't worry about the gym if I had a good place to walk with out driving there and I'm not looking forward to walking in the cold. I might try the gym for a few months and see if it's worth it.

    2. Oh Blimey, I think I put Don's 35 pounds on when I retired :(. I might go and visit him for some inspiration.xx

  9. Gosh I am worried about you all with those fires!
    I hope things resolve soon!
Stress can hurt our weight loss intentions. I bet after 17 days you will see a drop in your scale register!
Love the sassy and favorite teacher comments! If only we could teach and be the way we want as educators!

    1. I loved that comment too. I'm very curious about several things after I retire. Will I lose weigh, will I be able to come off BP medication - I know it's all up to me, but I'm still curious.

  11. 17 days and counting..how exciting and a little scary, too I bet! Trust me you will find lots to fill your time. And once you have more time, less stress, less faculty room treats, and more time to walk or exercise...you will find the weight will start to move in the right direction. Praying for all who are being affected by the fires and that you all find some relief soon.

  13. PK,
LOL Days were so much fun. Glad you had so many new visitors.

You could do these last days standing on your head. You are definitely on the downhill now, my friend. I loved the kids' reactions. You are loved.

So happy to hear about the stable blood sugar. You thought it would be the end of the world, and look at you now. Very proud of you!

    Love,

  14. Hi, PK,
Glad you had a great LOL Day and had several new visitors, that is awesome! Only a few more weeks and you are able to retire, that will be so very relaxing for you. I thought staying home would be so boring, but it it's new every day. You can catch up on all the things you wanted to do, but didn't have time for. Happy to hear that your blood sugars are good, that can be very challenging. Hope you have a great Thanksgiving week and get some much needed rain!

    1. I think it's going to be fine - I plan to guard my time. I want that daily writing time and I've heard everyone and their brother have something that they want you to help with. I'll do some 'helping' but I know how to say NO!

  15. Just curious why you decided to retire in the middle of the year. You probably already explained and I just missed it.

Also, since when do you have fires and weather like CA? Seems we constantly have smoke and ash in the air. It's so sad. And scary. Our drought does nothing to help it. Although today it rained all day, so that was nice!

I'm so happy you are retiring! I know you've been looking forward to this for a very long time!

    Love you!

    1. I wanted to go out at the end of last year. But if I waited until I was 60 my monthly check would go up by $350 every month for life. So it was a no brainer to stay until then. My last day is the day after my 60th. If I were to stay until the end of the year my monthly check would go down by $11 each month. Don't ask why it's so weird.

I am NOT pleased to copy California in this way. Last year by this time this month we had had 8.5 inches of rain. This year, this month .4 inches.
