Saturday Spankings - Questionable decision

Welcome to Saturday Spankings! In today’s snippet from Secrets on the River, Allie is getting closer to her due date. At dinner with the whole family she shares with the group a decision she and Ryan have come to. Not everyone is happy with what they’re hearing.

“We just wanted all of you to know, Ryan and I have been doing a lot of talking and research and discussing it with my doctor and we’ve come to a decision. We’re planning on a home birth,” Allie said in one fast breath.

Everyone froze in silence, staring at her. “Now don’t freak out. It’s becoming more and more common these days. This town has two excellent midwives, they aren’t looked down on by the doctors. They have emergency equipment with them just in case it’s needed. So it’s really very safe.”

Everyone continued looking at them, but no one spoke for a long moment. Then Tom asked, “Son, are you comfortable with this decision?”

“I wasn’t at first, I admit. But after talking with everyone involved I’ve really got on board. I like the idea of this little one being born in our home, right here on the river and I like that some of you all could be at the birth. That is, if you want to. You don’t have to or anything, but you’d be here to be able to see the baby right away.”

Cassie felt uneasy about the whole thing. “I don’t know. I know it’s your decision… but I’d rather you be at a hospital with equipment and a specialist right outside your door when the baby comes. Can this midwife, or whatever, give you sufficient pain medication? From what little I know about it you’re going to need some.”

Allie shook her head. “We’ve decided on natural childbirth. No drugs. The doctor and midwife say that’s fine. Women do it all different ways now. I want to be clear-headed and alert when the baby comes.”

“That the way God ‘tended it to be,” Lily spoke up. “I got nothin’ ‘gainst ‘mergency ‘quipment, but I think babies does best when they comes natural-like.”

“You’re both nuts,” Sue said, sounding disgusted. “If I’d ever had a baby, I’d have demanded an epidural about the sixth month just to be safe.”

Everyone laughed and Cassie glanced back toward Annie. Cassie’s laughter stopped and she half rose. “Annie…?” Annie’s face had gone pale. Not pale, Cassie thought, totally bloodless. She looked as though she were in pain, but at the same time she seemed to shake with a fury that Cassie had never seen in her in all the time she’d known her.

“Stupid,” they heard. “Stupid, STUPID, STUPID!” Annie was shouting. She rose to her feet and slammed her hand down on the table as she rounded on Allie and Ryan. “A perfectly good hospital not three miles away and you’re willing to risk that baby’s life and your own on some romantic whim to ‘have the baby born on the river?’ Why not have it in the boat, or better yet just give birth in the river itself? Would that be natural enough for you? Just take an aspirin and pop that baby right out in the water! You’re idiots! You’re too damn stupid to raise a child!”

“Annie…” Andy was on his feet taking hold of her arm. She jerked away and grimaced in pain. Pushing back her chair, she turned and ran to the front door and out, slamming it behind her. Andy gave them all a stricken look and took off after Annie.

Everyone has secrets, but most don’t have major implications. When Jenny tries to keep her weekend activities from Cal, the repercussions of him finding out land only on her. But some secrets are bigger and more far reaching. You would think that as long as Cassie, Sue and Annie have known each other, surely they could have no real secrets from one another. But you’d be surprised. The full truth behind one secret may never be known, another could change the face of The Landing forever.

Their lives, their adventures, even their spankings sometimes intertwine. By this time in the series, I’m just typing as my characters tell me what’s happening. And I love it!

These books do take you through time as it passes, but please don’t think you have to read them in order. Start anywhere. Just grab one and give it a try. If you are a spanking enthusiast, I know you'll enjoy it.

When it rains, it… well you know

Just a little medical update. I’ve found out that every doctor visit ends up in, “we should know at your next visit.” They sent the tumor off for genetic testing to find out if it’s a particular aggressive strain, which would mean chemo. They don’t think I’ll need chemo, but I’ll know at my next visit on the 23rd. Meanwhile, I had a CT scan to find out how much radiation I’ll need. It could be as few as five treatments up to fifteen. That’s still only half of what it used to be. They have to send the CT to another hospital for other to check and they have to get approval from my insurance and they will call me when they know and then I’ll start treatments.

I guess all my problems was the rain, but suddenly it began to pour. Nick has been diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a type of blood cancer. It’s not leukemia and according to the doctor, we’re seeing the same doctor, it’s very treatable and with the treatment they are suggesting about 90% of people go into remission. It may not ever go away completely but they can usually keep it beaten back. He will be having chemo after they do a PET scan. The doctor says he won’t lose his hair – he has very little, but I really like his beard, so that’s good.

I think it sweet when couples do things together, but this borders on the ridiculous!  We’re hanging in there. Several of you have sent positive thoughts and prayers and I thank you. I hope you’ll add Nick to those prayers.

Saturday Spankings - Likes and dislikes

Jenny walked over a little early, always eager to visit with her ‘mom’. She found Cassie sitting in the padded swing watching the river.

“Hey, Mom,” Jenny greeted her. “It’s unusual to find you alone these days. Do you want a little time to yourself?”

“Sit!” Cassie encouraged. “You know I love visiting with you any time.”

Jenny carefully took her seat. Cal hadn’t been wrong about the bruises or the continued soreness. Cassie noticed at once.

“What happened? Did you do something wrong or was Cal overreacting as usual?” she demanded.

“Neither,” Jenny told her, laughing. “We were just playing. But his new toy and I are not friends! He has a cane now.”

“Oh, Jenny, no!” Cassie was genuinely upset. “Those things are horrible. You need to make him get rid of that thing right now.”

“It’s okay, he promised to only use it for play, never for discipline,” Jenny tried to reassure her.

“For play!” Cassie was aghast. “But they’re vicious! Like a switch, but worse. That would be intolerable!”

“This from a woman who ‘loves the belt.’ That’s intolerable!” Jenny insisted.

“You have lost your mind,” Cassie told her. “The belt is sexy, sensual, it’s…”

“You could say the same thing for the cane if you think about it,” Jenny insisted.

Cassie stared at her for a long moment, before shaking her head. “Maybe I’m getting too old to understand you young people.”

“Fat chance of that, Mom. As long you’re willing to sit and discuss what implements our fellows should use to beat our asses, I think we’re all close to the same age.”

Cassie chuckled. “Maybe you’re right.

Saturday Spankings - Aftermath

Welcome to Saturday Spankings. Today’s snippet comes from Secrets on the River. Cal and Jenny have just had an amazing play session where Cal used ginger as well as his new cane. But he’s worried that the session was too intense and he talks it over with Jenny. She tries to reassure him.

“Honey, you can’t take it too far if I know you’ll stop when I ask you to. It doesn’t happen all the time, but when I get into that headspace, the pain… the pain… it’s what I want. The more the better. From what I’ve read, I’m a ‘pain slut.’ But I wouldn’t say that to very many people.”

Cal frowned. “I don’t much like the phrase. The word ‘slut’ should never be applied to my wife in any form.”

“Well, anyway, when we’re playing, I like the pain,” Jenny assured him. “It’s an incredible turn-on. And I promise, word of honor, I’ll tell you to stop if it ever gets to be too much.”

Cal started to comment but Jenny cut him off. “But I’m going to lay down some rules about that cane. It’s only for playing—got it? You cannot ever use it for discipline. Promise me.”

“You think the cane is a toy?” he asked in surprise.

“No, it’s horrible. But like I said, when I’m in that headspace I can take it. When you’re spanking for something you think I’ve really done wrong, a hand spanking nearly kills me. That awful paddle you made is more than bad enough. No cane!”

“You have my promise,” he agreed.

Cal ran his fingers gently over the lines left by the cane. “It looks good,” he told her. “I mean your ass looks fantastic, as usual, but the cane marks look fine. No broken skin. But I think they may bruise and I’m expecting you’ll be sore for a day or two.”

Jenny grinned at him. “Call it loving memories.”

“Beats cooking!” Jenny told him. They dressed quickly and headed out.

Cal noted how slowly Jenny took her seat in the car, as if she were seeking a comfortable position, which was impossible, and momentarily reconsidered his evening plans. But this place had a great brisket and he knew how much Jenny would love it.

Several people called greetings to Cal as they entered the restaurant. They were being led to their table when Jenny stopped dead in her tracks and scowled, her eyes narrowing to slits. Cal saw and laughed out loud.

Taking her hand, he led her to their table. Before they took their seats, she pulled Cal to a stop and reached up to speak directly into his ear.

“You’re a fucking bastard!” she whispered.

“You’re going to love their brisket,” he said with a broad grin as Jenny winced and carefully sat on the hard wooden bench at the table.

“I’ll get you for this,” she hissed. “I promise.”
